And Hi from me also, John. I recall meeting Rick once also, in LA. Many years ago. We drink a lot of coffee.

Coincidentally, while cleaning today, I found a picture from Rick's first wedding. I was one of the ushers. We were much younger in those days. And at my brother's house--and how the pictures got there I have no idea--I discovered pictures from the night a bunch of us took Rick and his second wife out before he left RI for California. We have been friends since college, some 44 years ago.

I met Rick at The Bike, I believe. He sat me in an O8 game while I was waiting for another game, then came and moved me after two hands. In those two hands I scooped two big pots, and the players were cursing me for hopping. Rick laughed at them. Life in a poker joint...

When I have spent time in California, I also hung out with Rick's friend Greg who played regularly at the Bike and elsewhere. We would meet up every day for breakfast, cigars, and hanging out around the pool.

I used to be a heavy regular at the Bike. I haven't been in a long while, but it was a nice casino, at least as far as casinos are concerned.

****

In other news, I decided to cut off the girl from the gig. I doubt she cares.

good for you schlitzy. but that is a poor excuse for rock and roll.

the first real rock and roll song which kinda kicked off the whole shebang was by bill hailey and the comets. a former country band from the heartland in 1954. it was actually the B side of the record.

John Cole needs to purchase this right away:

Alfred-Hitchcock-Collectors-Edition-Bobblehead

He may not think he needs one but he would be wrong.

You are welcome.

There are many things I think I don't need, and I'm wrong about most of them.

Everyone have a safe and relaxing Memorial Day Weekend. It should start about now and end sometime on Tuesday when you sober up.

Feels like summer today. High 80s today and tomorrow. If this continues, I may start the summer thread early.

My former administative assistant knows me well. She told me it's okay to text her--even if she is a married woman. No wonder some find me a bit remote.

what do you want to text her for. text a girl that you can get to. stop playing safe its disgusting.

Ray Zee laying down the rules.

LA has been chilly. It is currently 56 with a high of 70 tomorrow, though I swear 70 feels like 90 when that sun is beating down. I think Austin broke my perception of hot and cold.

Hope you all are planning to have an exciting weekend. I have a lot going on this weekend, so once again, no decent sleep. I'm getting a lot of comments at work about how worn out I've been looking lately.

I liked this garden, John Cole:

Awarding it Silver Gilt rather than Gold was a travesty.

Thanks, Charlie. It looks like a beautiful garden. I can't imagine the torment parents face caring for children with epilepsy. It has never bothered me, except for the driving ban, which completely screws up my life. I live in a suburb of Boston and Providence, so there's little within walking distance of my condo. I can't get to work from where I live without driving. So I look at epilepsy as an inconvenience. The disorder is so much more difficult for others though.

BTW, Ray Zee, my daughter on married women texting me and my texting them:

"See that’s different because she’s shady as hell and her motives could not be trusted. Gail is genuinely your friend. Totally different scenario."

I think you would like my daughter.

unfortunately for me none of it is worthwhile. kind of like a blind guy with a photographic memory.
