I happened to see this thread again & I'm with you on this. Lotta good scenes & also when he wakes up in the hospital only to find his arm missing.

And RE: doing favors for the boss man (as u mentioned) who was David Keith (not to be confused with the white actor Keith David who swallows the engagement ring & commits suicide in an Officer & A Gentleman).

I think he could be in the category of under-rated charactor actors & I've heard him do voice-over narrations in A-list stuff & think he is excellent at that.

I remember his role in Dead Presidents. I really enjoyed that movie & his role as Kirby. Loved the scene where he kicks some guys as_ & has his artificial leg fall off in the process (u don't even know he has 1 until that scene). Also liked him as "King" in Platoon just to name a couple.

And the scene where in RFAD when he is telling Jennifer Connelly to "get on it & that it wasn't just taken out to just to breathe" or something like that was really good.

And then when Connelly tells him it was a 1-time thing just to get a fix.....you see that look on his face of.....right, you're a dope fiend & won't be back for more as soon as you need to do whatever for another fix was the right decision by the director (Aronofsky) to just have the expression on Keith's face tell the story.....words would have taken away from that scene BigTime!

That scene along with the "I Have a Competition In Me" scene.

And I might as well throw in the 16 second clip where Dano forces DDL to admit "I've abandoned my child". UH, big mistake there Paul!

Now I only gamble when playing poker, back in the 70's it was anything that moved. The Gambler (1974) with James Caan was my life.

There was one scene when he was sitting in the bathtub listening to I think a Knicks Lakers game with every cent and more he had on the game, when Jerry West hit something like a backdoor cover at the buzzer and he just sunk down under the water like he was drowning. I knew his pain, I had been there many times. . . . Chilled me to the bone. Helped me straighten out my act.

The scene I share with my daughter as one of the best movie lines ever. . .

Irreversible

The entire film gets burnt into your memory. I viewed it once, which was enough for a lifetime.
