Um... absolutely no. It absolutely makes a difference whether a statement is personally directed or not...because people are more likely to find an insult in something that is directed at them than a random, general observation. That's Internet Posting 101.
And more importantly, the "rules" are completely changed if I think you're insulting me. You're trying to argue for double standards when the situations are not analogous.
If I had initially responded to your first post with this: "Landon, I won't be taking any advice about male-female relationships from you when you're afraid to even talk to girls", how exactly would you have received that?
