Baby Lacey is 2 months old on Thursday.

So, I figured this might be as good of a place as any for a baby question. I feel weird calling the doctor for stuff like this, and google doesn't come up with much.

She's obviously a few days short of 2 months, and has basically begun sleeping through the night. By sleeping through the night I don't mean 4-5 hours, I mean beginning the last bottle at 9pm and sleeping till 5am. She's done it several days in a row, and while she does make a few noises during the night, she seems to be sleeping really well.

Can this in any way be a bad thing? It seems like it's kind of messing up her internal clock and making her nap less during the day, but my sample size is really small. The last thing I want to do is give me a reason to wake her up, but I feel like the past few days she's slept all night, then not slept during the day, and then been superrrrrrrrrrr cranky before going to bed again.

she's a doll Brian. looks like her daddy.

I wasn't much of a "schedule" person, pretty much just rolled with whatever my kids wanted to do sleepwise. But I've always heard: never wake a sleeping baby, and that just seems like common sense.

oh, and it may/ may not apply but I always found that my kids got really fussy right before they crossed some hurdle in their development.

Thanks.

Yeah, it's 7am, she still hasn't woken up. I'm definitely not going to wake her, but if it continues to make her fussy during the day maybe we'll start doing the feeding later in the evening. She almost always wakes up when the sun comes up regardless of when we put her down.

I guess I'm just extremely lucky, in the literal way instead of the mushy way most parents claim they are.

Waves at Lacey. What a sweetie!

Sleeping through the night is never a bad thing. She will still need to nap during the day. Watch her closely for sleep cues, rubbing eyes, etc. If you can spot these times, use them to get her to nap.

She also may need to go to sleep earlier in the evening. Our granddaughter was going down at 9 with crankiness and now goes to bed at 7:30 without any - sleeps to 9 AM, and still naps during the day. (She's 10 months.) It tough work growing so much!

Daytime naps don't really settle down until 3+ months anyway, so don't worry about it, and enjoy getting more sleep at night.

You don't know how many parents you're gonna tilt when they read "is my baby sleeping through the night possibly a bad thing?"

lol

Srsly this!

My little boy is about to be 13 months and is finally kinda sleeping through the night. He still wiggles his head to the end of the crib and losses his blankets in the process. He will cry in his sleep until you go move him back to the middle and cover him up. He never slept through the night until ten months. My wife and I were exhausted.

Def don't worry and be thankful she is already sleeping through. She's beautiful, I'm sure you love more than you could ever expect.

I found out a about a month ago that we are having another :O. Totally unexpected , Its exciting but also a little daunting.

Grats to all the new fathers itt! and GL

Loving the pink dress. How are Dad and Mom doing with parenthood?

Also, jealous of all that hair!

Parenthood is the best thing in the world, seriously. It's hard, but it's awesome. Both my wife and I are definitely 100% committed to it.

The only drawback I see is that it changes a marriage, which takes some work. It's no big deal, it's just the one thing I wasn't prepared for. People need to be ready for the fact that when you introduce a 24 hour need machine into your home, sometimes there's only so much attention (and waking hours) to go around.

We have it handled, but it was a little overwhelming for a minute or two.

I guess it's not all THAT bad though, since we went and did it again!

DOH!

Due date June 9.
