I was 7/11 and I must say that I'm glad my parents didn't name me Slurpee.

<3 this thread.

Hi guys, one of your resident lurkers here. You can add me to the list.

Lil' adrockuk jr or Lil' missy adrockuk is due Jan 31st. (names to be confirmed). I'm pretty excited at the prospect of having my life ruined.

This thread has been a good read, thanks to all the posters giving their experiences.

So is it weird that my 8 month old isnt crawling yet? She's got basically no desire to be her on stomach and mostly just rolls around to her back.

edit: obligatory 8 month pic

I don't think the not crawling is a big deal (my 9 month old hasn't officially crawled yet), but she should probably be making progress towards crawling (i.e. on her belly a lot, pushing up with arms straight and supporting herself, etc.) Also, she should probably be sitting on her own a lot, iirc. If not, I think that's a bigger issue.

FWIW (I'm not an expert by any means).

Edit: babycenter.com has a week by week "what your baby should be doing (approx)" feature. I get e-mails, but you can probably get to it from the main site as well.

thanks Leroy. Yeah, she's sitting up but yeah, just kind of fails miserably at crawling. I've got a couple more questions but I'll see if that site answers them.

Another to add to the list! My common-law wife (i.e. long term living with girlfriend) is pregnant and our first baby (it’s a boy!) is due on 15 October. When you say mid-October to people it still seems quite a distance away but the due date is 10 weeks tomorrow and that kinda makes me feel as though we’re totally unprepared (planning-wise I mean – nursery and all that – I know nothing will prepare me for when Junior arrives ).

Have a small amount of experience given that my younger brother was born when I was nearly 10 but then I wasn’t responsible for nappies, feeding & cleaning up after him & could sleep like a log !! Very nervous but also very excited – I’m 33 and gf is 40 so we weren’t sure if we’d ever get pregnant. Our boy will be the 4th grandchild on each side and will even the boy:girl numbers up both sides!

Just wanted to add that have read through every post ITT and have been close to tears many times (with the various TR’s, with both good and bad endings), what a great thread! Have taken in a lot from many of the posts – now just have to read DB’s frequently linked new father’s thread.

Good luck to all other expecting fathers!

Disclaimer: I'm no expert either....but

I wouldn't worry too much about an 8 month old not crawling. Although those "what your baby should be doing by now" features are cool because it's fun to look ahead a few weeks and go "hey, she can already do that!", I think if you read enough of them you're going to find at least something that your baby is a little behind on. If not, well then you must have a super advanced gifted genius child, so throw away that 529 plan. Full ride to Harvard on the way.

I think I'm going to create a "you should be worried if" feature. For example, "you should be worried if by 8 months your baby":

1) doesn't know who mommy is
2) sleeps less than 12 hours a day
3) doesn't inspect every toy by tasting it
4) isn't cute enough to get away with absolutely anything she wants

Something like that. lmk if anyone is interested in receiving my email .

Anyway, obligatory 8 month old pic:

Also, I noticed this:

Vivienne is our first. Thanks a lot for updating this list. Very cool to see it grow and grow.

I know it's cliche to say "they get old so quickly," but I thought she was still too young to be a biker chick ...

Wife just passed 39 weeks, she is definitely ready for him to come. The midwife thinks he's easily 8 lbs by now. Her belly is just filled with baby everywhere. Just a waiting game at this point. He could come at any point, just the waiting game here.

For the master list, we are expecting a boy. My wife's due date is 9/26. Borodog is also expecting a boy.

GREEEEAAARRRR

Update my #2 from unknown to a baby girl. Just past 30 weeks, and she is quite the kicker in there. Much more active than my son was. Baby and momma are doing well so far. God the time goes fast with the second one.

Owen is 27 months now - yikes! From a few months ago, this is how we party at our house.

It's funny, my wife is actually newly pregnant (thank you, thank you very much), but I don't know how I feel about the new thread title.

This epic thread had the perfect name before.

Congratulations, Rushmore! But be on the lookout for that 666 scalp mark, now. And don't let Ruth Gordon move in next door.

Bump. OK, I've moved 850ish of the pregnancy posts to a new thread. This will be a placeholder for other mods to merge posts from the merged disaster into.

Wow! Big news to drop nonchalantly into the Food Blog. You guys didn't waste any time, did you? I'm thrilled for you.

Hey, the clock is ticking. As NhlNut so adeptly and painfully points out, I would be playing catch with junior from my Hoverround if we waited too long.

Now the wife gets to change babies for the next ten years or so, then she can focus on my diapering needs.

Thanks for the congrats.

About to go into the doctor to begin the induction process. Wife is at 41 weeks today. Getting a balloon in her, then hoping things go naturally tonight, if not, we go back to the hospital at 630 am tomorrow. Hopefully pics to follow tomorrow afternoon if all goes well.

Back home for the night, looks like it is working. She is getting her first contractions. Hopefully we make it through the night and get a good nights rest for tomorrow.

Got to the hospital at 630 am yesterday. Still waiting on the baby. Fathers to be, if you have an induction date, please do not try to get a bunch of stuff done the day before and just sleep all day.

Finally made it! There were a lot of complications during the attempted vaginal birth. We had a very natural friendly practice, although after 36 hours, there was no other choice but a C-section. The baby was facing upward and was likely to be very large. Once they pulled him out, everyone in the gallery chuckled and looked in surprise. 10lbs 2oz. There was no way my wife was pushing him out. Absolutely adorable baby with pictures to follow.
