It certainly is awesome having a kid, congratulations.

No worries about not taking a class or reading a book. Believe it or not your instincts will take over. My wife bought me this book

We probably have about 10 baby care books; I think I referenced something once or twice. Most of the time I fly by the seat of my pants or call the pediatrician's office if I'm not sure.

The pee stick informed us of the good news yesterday! Very excited, but also kind of scared. We're both 24, been married for 4 years and let me just say I've been waiting for a while to post in this thread!! Will be spending some time here in the coming months!

Good to know it exists... what's so great about it?

Hormones mean her skin gets really soft and nice, her internal temp goes up so her skin is warmer, and her sex drive goes up (this is all on average)

Congrats Sneaky, probably shouldn't bother renewing your Live membership No clue why I am reading this thread, maybe because I'm getting married soon, but not planning on kids for a while.

So went in today for the ultrasound, glad to report back that its a boy, and it looks healthy. Probably one of the coolest things to experience. So weird to hear the heart beat and see the baby and know it's something you helped create. At the same time it's probably one of the most awesome experiences in my life. Can't wait to see him for the first time, most likely going to cry like a little girl.

Thanks!

Actually, this one was a lot easier on my wife than our first one (who was 7lbs 15oz). The labour wasn't nearly as brutal as the first one. He had to be suctioned out because he was so big, though. He's got a bit of a cone head now...but it should go back to normal soon.

What was interesting is that the doctor was convinced that the baby was actually two weeks early rather than one week late. Had the baby been carried to term, he would have certainly been over 10lbs.

I can confirm the conehead disappears, but can take a few months.

My daughter had to be suctioned out as well, so she had a conehead as well. Her head is perfectly normal-shaped now.

The only difference is that she was "true conehead" in that they suctioned her out from the top of her head:

My son's suction was on the back of his head, so he looks more like Alien:

Congrats on Lily, a well named belle.

@Borodog: Does it really matter? If you don't find out and the baby is born you'll say "Honey, it's an ACist"

Congrats Livin... beautiful kiddies you got there!

We went to the doctor for our first ultrasound yesterday and apparently we're not quite as far along as we thought. We saw the gestational sac, and the yolk sack, but couldn't see the heartbeat yet.

I guess we're more like 5.5 weeks rather than 6.5 like we had previously thought... kinda makes sense though because her cycles are usually around 32 days.

Next ultrasound in 2 weeks, very excited to see the little guy for the first time!

I wanted to photoshop the ultrasound with an anarchy flag but I was too lazy.
