Just passed the 36 week checkup this past Monday. Baby is facing down, "bottom's up", so that's good. Getting pretty excited to see him!! He regularly starts shifting around when he hears my voice now, which is cool.

Man.... reading this thread really makes me want to impregnate my wife....

We're 23 and been married for 2 years. The only reason we haven't had kids yet is because we still have some debt to pay off... around 20K... just car and student loans.

A little off-topic, but impregnation-attempting sex is pretty hot stuff.

My lil mama goes in on the 5th for a check up. Shes at around 28 weeks, we think a little further along than the doc says, but whats new. The lil girl is rolling and kicking, and gets so scared when she hears thunder or loud movies. We put the headphones on the belly the other night when we watched the meerkat manor movie, she seemed to enjoy it lots.

The wife can't sleep at night though, and it really sucks. I feel so bad for her. I really see how strong my wife is after going through pregnancy. She really never complains much and is always loving on me. I'm so lucky. She has a friend who is 10 weeks pregnant and complains like she's going to die, funny thing is she complained before she was pregnant. One of those friends the wife has that you just want to punch in the head every time they open their mouth.

Plus for some of us marrieds, trying to get preggo is the only time you actually have sex!

Hai Guise!

I just want to give all of the parents out there a heads-up. This past Friday night, my new baby Sofia had a fever of 103.8.

We called the doctor and he said to take her to the hospital. I took her in at 4:30am, they took her temp at 5:00am and it was down to 102.0. I thought that was a good sign but, they wanted to do three tests.

A urine test, a blood test and a spinal tap.

I was like "Spinal Tap"?!?!? No way.

I didn't want to sign the consent form. They said that they must check for spinal meningitus(sp?). They said that if I did not consent, they would call Child Welfare and that CW would force me to do it. (not much choice, I guess)

All tests were negative except for the urine test. Turns out she has a urinary tract infection that due to reflux (urine going backwards into the kidneys).. has infected the kidneys.

She is still in the hospital and will be out by Wednesday at the earliest. They have done CatScans, all types of blood tests, Sonograms.. and she is on anti-biotics for now.

So, my advice to all you new parents... keep a close eye on your child's temperature... my daughter will most-likely be okay *fingers crossed* but, if I didnt catch this and it continued with the spiking fevers unnoticed.. there could be serious damage done to the kidneys.. or even worse (in the case of meningitis).

Sorry to scare everyone in this happy thread but, let's keep those bundles of joy safe and healthy!

Glad things are looking OK. I had the same thing .. really high temperature, etc. My parents took me in to the hospital. Spinal fluid was very cloudy. Turned out to be spinal meningitis. Apparently, if they'd taken me in a little later, I'd've died. Hurray for antibiotics!

Wow, scary. Hope your daughter is feeling better today and will be home by tomorrow. Good to hear that you and the doctors were vigilant.

Hmm, I may be adding a finished product to the thread soon. Went in for the 38 week checkup yesterday, and my wife was checked for dialation for the first time. We were quite surprised to find out she's at 4 cm, and 80% effaced already! The doc said the baby's head was right there ready to go, so I guess it could be anytime now.

Probably not going full term, we'll see what happens! Neither of us slept well last night, she is at home resting today, and I'm waiting by the phone trying to get some work done. Fat chance!!!
