I have been coming back to this thread since December - I've learned so much from all of you. My wife is pregnant with twins due on August 5th (boy/girl). Tonight we had our first "magnificent multiples" prenatal class at the women's hospial. Wow. Everything became a bit more real tonight!

dcasper is on the ball. Today is youngblood's six month birthday and I have received a PM for his update.

I'm pleased to report he is doing fine. He's happy and healthy and growing like a weed.

One nice thing is his sister has now accepted him. It was touch and go for a while until she was satisfied that she'd still be receiving her MDAR (minimum daily attention requirement).

He does need his attention though. Mom is a full-time stay at home type; if he's not being held he's crying to be held. Hope that means he'll be well-grounded and stable when he grows up. He should know he's never neglected. I wonder how he'd react if there wasn't somebody to cuddle him constantly.

Poor guy is in misery over his impending teeth. He's a redhead; I've heard they have a hard time teething. Drool all the time and lots of moaning. I refuse to give a baby Tylenol (don't even know why they make an infant version) but we have the go-ahead from the doc to give him all the ibuprofen he can take.

He's just back from Easter weekend charming all his L.A. relatives. He's a great car-tripper.

One thing I've noted: his sister never spit up, but was prone to diaper rash. He is a serious spitter-upper, but never gets diaper rash.

His sister was subtle in her attention bids. Fake coughs and such. She is still devious and clever. He is not subtle at all, as I've mentioned. If he wants something, he ain't shy about yelling for it.

He can now sleep ten hours straight! Yea!!!11one!

I'm at work so no pics at this time, sorry.

Thanks, dcasper!

My daughter just pooed herself in her Exersaucer.

If I post a trip report tomorrow, it will probably be the same.

The exersaucer seemed to be some kind of contextual cue for my son to poo. Without fail - he would do it everytime we put him in there.

Remind me to never buy the exersaucer.

FWIW my wife is still on for the 27th although she's starting to dialate a little and the baby is 7 lbs already!

Whenever she evacuates in the Exersaucer, I need to get her out of it immediately. Why? Since the seat of the contraption is shoved up against her tuchus, the butt mud is blocked from going down into the diaper as normal. Thus, the only place for it to go is up.

Up her back. All over her clothes.

It has been a stressful week from the beginning. My other daughter got sick with the stomach flu and gave it to my wife and I last weekend. My wife lost 5 lbs puking for a day and I worried about how it might affect the baby. She had always been very active, pushing very hard against my wife's belly until I thought an alien was going to pop out, so hard you could practically make out her feet poking through the skin.

But after the illness, the baby seemed to lose her energy. My wife still thought she was still moving, but I couldn't really feel it. I began to think about little Allen Lerner and the bad things that can happen, but just tried to put it out of my mind.

My wife had scheduled a C section for today because she wanted friday the 13th even though she was due on Wednesday (my original date on this thread was wrong). Waiting past the due date, and the date itself also made me uncomfortable.

Tuesday night my wife started to have contractions, and I started to get excited and hope we could get it over with. But they quickly stopped. And so we waited until this morning, packed her things and made our way to the hospital. The baby had still been relatively inactive.

In the hospital they put you in a prep room while they wait for the doctor to arrive and the room to be readied. The nurse put a couple of straps around the belly to get the babies heartbeat. She tightened them up and I looked up to the monitor, but it's readout said zero. The nurse frowned and adjusted them again. The readout paused, then suddenly read 150 beats per minute. I had held my breath the whole time and let out a big intake of air. It's funny how these little fears percolate in your mind and I realized that I had already been contingency planning in my mind about what I would do, who I would have to call, what I would have to say.

We had to wait for a couple emergency C sections but once we were in the room things went fast. This time I took a brief peek, but once I saw the incision starting to open that was enough for me. I pulled out my brand new digital camera that I had been fooling with before we came in the room, but it turned off immediately. I tried it again, and realized it's battery had died. Fortunately I had my cell phone.

When they brought her out she caterwauled. I inched around the curtain hiding the blood and guts to see her as they held her up, and she was dark, bluish gray. They carried her over to the same tray they had lain my first daughter in and immediately surrounded her with three nurses and a doctor. I crept up carefully, not sure if I was allowed too close. They were examining her roughly, and she was making some strange noises I couldn't categorize as good or bad. The doctor noticed me behind his shoulder and turned to look at me.

"She is a healthy baby girl, congratulions" he said.

My second daughter, Haven, arrived at 1:12 pm this afternoon. She weighed 8 lbs 9 ounces, and both her and her mother are doing great. And I am very, very, grateful.

OK, I just found this thread and I'll join the party.

My wife of six years is due July 25 with our second child. We don't know if it's going to be a boy or girl - she wants it to be a surprise, like our first - Max, who is 2 and a half.

I'm starting to get pretty nervous about it, and I don't know why. We went through it once and everything went fine.

I think I'm just sweating it because finances are pretty tight for the most part, and, from a personal standpoint, I put in pretty long, sleepless weeks as it is (I work 3 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Tue-Fri, and I have to get up with my son every morning at 7 a.m. because my wife works).

We're very excited, but, of course, nervous, too.

GL everyone!

Congrats DesertCat! Nice trip report. I am glad that everything went well.

Yo, just my 2 cents. I thought that going from one child to two was far easier than going from zero to one.
This has been the sentiments of a lot of my friends. With kiddo number two you have a better idea of what to expect and what to do.

Yes, DesertCat, congrats! Good stuff!

And Mrs. Utah, thanks for the reassuring words. My good friend, who is 33 and has two girls and a boy, keeps telling me how having two is five times harder than just having one ... so I'll admit I've been a little nervous.

I definitely knew what to expect better, but I was shocked at how often a total feeling of impending doom would descend upon me over the last week, and even the last month or two. As soon as her skin started to redden and I could see her breathing normally it washed away, and hasn't come back yet.

FWIW, I've heard that going from two to three is much harder than one to two (because the parents are outnumbered). But everyone I know agrees that zero to one is the hardest.

This makes me feel better ... I've always been excited, but, like I said, I've gotten very nervous in the last couple weeks.

I have heard this too but I also know have had a few friends that have three kids and are ready for a forth.
I think it can depend on their ages.

I like even numbers myself.

I think people love to share their horror stories. It seems that people hear the worst of the worst pregnancy/labor&delivery/childrearing stories but they are rare. Its not fair to compare their situation to yours.

Besides having two is only three times harder.

Very cute pix - adorable little girl! Second thing I noticed is that we have the same Pack-n-play. I have no idea what that says about me...

Baby is due in 6 weeks, and wife has officially reached the "get it out of me" stage. Her belly looks like the movie Alien at times - but in a good way.

Congrats to the recent new arrivals...

My first was very quiet and purple after the C.

I was concerned until I noticed the nurses working on her were discussing what they were going to have to eat when they got their break.
