thank you so much for this thread. It's my favourite thread on 2plus2, and I suspect it's never going to be beaten.

Well, after a very long wait I finally get to post in this thread. My wife is pregnant and we are expecting our first on or about July 8. We have chosen to remain in the dark as to the gender. I am looking forward to posting pics of our newborn come this summer.

I have no idea what the car seat question means. There are two types of car seat?

DB apparently there is.
the Convertables can be used as an infant seat and when the baby gets older, the problem is they are stationary (IE they don easily left out of the car) The other way is to get an infinite see that has a base, and thus a removable "seat" area so you don't have to disturb the baby (just release and bring baby and seat with you) Problem here is that when the baby gets older (above 30 pnds) its time for a new car seat

our stroller is basically a large car seat attached to a frame and wheels. It comes out easily and fits into a car seat base. We bought 2 bases so we wouldnt have to take them out of the car.

Last Friday we had our 20week sonogram. My wife decided she wants to be surprised so unfortunately I still don't know what we're having. No matter how much I squint I cant tell anything from the pictures. How do people go about decorating a baby room if they dont know boy/girl?

Also next week we're going to Playa del Carmen for our last chance vacation until the kid turns 18 or so. Anyone ever been to Mexico with a pregnant woman? Is she going to make me miserable?

killa

Go with one with a carry handle, with the intention of getting a bigger, separating one as she/he becomes a toddler.

being able to carry the little tyke around is really, really useful. The seat also goes into people's houses and they can stay in it, sleep in it etc etc.

Do what I did when I found out it's a girl. Start planning to build a porch and buy a chrome-plated shotgun so you can sit out on it, polishing the gun as she's leaving for a date.

Excelent idea!!!! I have two daugthers, one with 15yo, and the other with 9 months...

You´ll never find a shotgun so well polished!!!

DB- I've been debating this myself. I don't suppose you have any experience in comparing the effect of polishing a shotgun vs. sharpening a large hunting knife, do you?

Knife is okay if you also hang large sausages from the porch, and take a slice out of one with said knife as they leave for a date.

I think both would be effective but I lean towards the shotgun cleaning myself.

I have tried to do this (Daughter is now 17) and been stopped by the wife and daughter. It was a losing battle.

Now I simply have to rely on word getting around that I really am one crazy Mother ****er who owns lots of guns and knows a lot of places to make someone disappear and never ever be found.

Fish

Just make sure you ask the guy to help you carry a bag of quicklime to your trunk, and then when you open it, have some clean, sturdy rope in there with a noose at one end.

LOL, For sure! I had a long conversation with our local doctor about the benefits of keeping a little quicklime around. His idea, not mine!

Well, the wife and I just had our 20-week ultrasound. It's going to be a boy, due July 5th.

So far the baby is healthy. Oh yeah, sick brag, we also had an early ultrasound at I think 12 weeks, and the ultrasound tech correctly guessed the gender. She enthusiastically said "it's very prominent", so yeah, it doesn't hurt to have amazing genetics. My child is also going to become a multi-sport pro athlete FWIW.

We're pretty set on the name Jackson. The middle name we're not too sure of.
How does Jackson Bonham Dahl sound?

My daughter Leah turned 2 this past Wednesday. My life has changed. I play poker about 5% of my former amounts, and at levels that I used to find laughable. I might come on 2+2 twice a month, and then it's only for 5 minutes to take a peek on this thread.

I have truly enjoyed staking my claim to this little portion of this site, and the responses both public and private have given everyone associated a look into different side of 2+2.

Thanks everyone! Good luck to you!

Congrats to y'all. Two very nice people with a very cute kid.

Congrats to killa and theblackkeys too!
