I guess DosXX is still catching up on his sleep. Hope everything went OK. Also this thread needs more action!

My wife is already getting that itch for #2. Yikes. This bundle of joy is keeping me plenty busy. Cameron last week @10 months (photo on image is wrong):

I crack up every time I see the pic of your 3 year old being swaddled. He's got this look on his face like "I don't get it. What's so hot about this?"

You get used to sleeping in bursts. 2 hours, then 3 hours, etc. It only lasts like 5 years.

All's going well. I'm glad I decided to take a good while off from the tables though. Sleepy headed of course but feel like I'm a fair bit more emotional than usual on top of that. Anyways, Best of luck all. Cheers!

That said I've never flown with my boy so I have no idea how it would go down. I just imagine it would be difficult. I know my sister just flew here from California with her 5 month old and I don't recall her complaining.
Just noticed this reply, so what's 3 months too late. My son was an awful baby for the most part. Constantly having reflux. Found out at 2.5 years he has a dairy allergy, which likely caused a lot of problems, that wasn't diagnosed. He was awful. But he became really well behaved as he got older, and now that we got his diet fixed, he's been really good. A little rough on his sister, but for the most part sweet and well behaved and chill. He is a bit restless, so I wouldn't want to fly with him now! I wouldn't call him docile, although he is very well behaved in public. We flew with him at 11 months, and he was constantly wanting to move about and didn't like just sitting in our laps. Fortunately we had an open flight and I let him walk around a bit. He'd probably do well now with a window seat and a tablet to keep him amused. The key for older toddlers is to just keep them occupied. My son was surprisingly good on a 15 hour drive with only me (and a dog), just had to keep him occupied (and let him sleep a lot, and get out to run around to burn off steam every so often).

My daughter was an absolute angel baby. She was sleeping through the night early, never threw up, was very chill. She's 15 months now and has gotten a lot more clingy and whiny. Flying with her was easy at 9 months, and I'd imagine it would be fine now. She's basically a big baby, just now walking (no desire for walking until recently, even though I know she had ability to do it). She likes to be held and talk. I definitely think shes an exception, but my son was probably more typical or even on the worse side. If you time it right, they just sleep and you are done.

Super young babies, though, sleep so much, that a flight is usually easy. It's rare to see a real young baby on a plane causing trouble. It's the slightly bigger ones that are still too young to stay occupied by anything but old enough to get restless that are going to be a huge pain in the ass. There's a sweet spot with the age where they are easy on planes and ages where they can be huge pains in the ass (YMMV by kid, obviously).

You mentioned allergies so I'll share this in case anyone else is having issues. My 3.5 month old son was having some issues with eating (breastfeeding). Things like pulling off and crying even though hungry. Not sleeping as well as he had been previously. Our well-respected pediatrician recommended us to another doctor (chiropractor by training, works for the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers) who has some unorthodox methods for diagnosing and treating allergy and food sensitivities (pediatrician, us, and the guy himself christened him the voodoo doctor). I can go into more detail if anyone is interested, but he identified a dairy sensitivity and milk protein sensitivity and treated it (through treating my wife) and it's helped a good amount.

Here's the website for the guru who developed the method and there are (afaik) practitioners around the country... Might be worth checking it out if anyone is willing to take something of a leap of faith and/or approach it with an open mind. Again, our pediatrician is as science-based as it comes, but he recommended this and it has worked for us. YMMV.

Yes sir, couldn't be happier. Sure it's not all cake walk, but we have a pretty good baby.

Here's my little girl Nina:

Just under 7 hours old. When she was pulled out of her mother it was the most overwhelmed and happy I think I ever was.

The feeling when you hear your baby cry is the craziest feeling I've ever felt. I'm not an emotional person at all, but that hit me like a ton of bricks.

It's a mixture of getting punched in the stomach, winning the lottery, and watching the end of Rocky 1 all at once. There is a reason so many people say it as the best day in their entire life.

Getting a bit deeper into the pregnancy, 17 weeks, find out the sex in another 3 weeks or so... it hasn't really hit me yet how big of a life change is coming but I'm incredibly excited to finally get to experience this

Little advice about the whole finding out the gender thing. My wife really wanted a boy. She tried to play it off a little bit but I know she really wanted one. I immediately said I wanted a little girl. Not because I wanted a little girl (actually, I really didn't care either way as long as they were healthy), but just to offset it in case we had a girl. Of course, you know how that turned out.

Anyway, gender disapointment is a real thing. My wife was upset for about 1-2 days afterwards (really upset, actually), and it put me in a position to not know what to do. I was more than a little annoyed she was upset about something so trivial, but I couldn't get mad at her because she'd simply... get more upset.

Anyway, just be aware what you say could have an affect. If your wife mentions she would like X, say Y. And if she says nothing, then say nothing or say you don't care either way. Don't even say what you'd prefer, because some wives might get upset you didn't get what you wanted and she might feel like it's her fault. This might sound stupid to spell all this out, but some couples really do go through this stuff (I've heard similar stories from other couples).

In the end, my wife is really happy we have a girl because she'll have a friend/person to go shopping with and stuff when she gets older. So it all turned out ok, which I knew it would.

The three weeks starting from 1 week before due date and through the first couple weeks after birth you will be kind of in this numb zombie state. It's a surreal experience. It'll be here before you know it. Take the next couple weeks to make sure you got all your ducks in a row at home and try to rest because the first couple weeks post-birth are brutal. Even for the dad. Go play golf. Do something fun for yourself or her or both of you together.
