That's a really really awesome picture and I also want to know more about ages. I've never ever seen 5 generations together.

My son is 6 months. I'm 29. My dad is 51 or 52. I'm not sure about my grandfather, probably 71-73 if I had to guess. My great-grandfather is 94.

I just came across Dr. Robert Sears' vaccination book...does anyone have any thoughts on this or further research about vaccinations in general? A lot of the stuff I have found(Dr. Offit's response for instance) have been pretty scathing. Rephrased: Has anyone read anything good about this book, or believe it? Thanks!

I'm glad you're not creeped out. I am wary of saying 'you have an adorable baby' usually even when it's true because people think I'm weird. But I like kids a lot and I have been reading you guys' posts for 5 years and I feel like you're my extended family.

Took us three years but finally my wife is pregnant.

Due date is Dec 24th.

Oh boy here we go. No turning back now.

Damn, WW, good luck! Did you try any different methods to get pregnant, or was it just a matter of hacking away until something stuck? I wish there were some hard evidence on exactly why sometimes people get pregnant quickly and why sometimes it takes ages...so just curious if you wouldn't mind sharing.

Sik brag, huge congrats!! Christmas Eve for good measure!

My wife was on birth control for 5+ years and my doctor told us when she got off it might take a little while to get her pregnant.

Plus she had a floating kidney when she was younger that another doctor said may make it more difficult to become pregnant because of the surgery she had.

I am not sure why she got pregnant this time. tbh this has been very hard for both of us. We both want children very badly and we have done a lot of things to try to get her pregnant. Artificial insemination, pills, acupuncture and even a homeopathic doctor which I thought was a waste of time but I didn't want to say anything because I knew she was just trying to do what ever it took.

Needless to say we are both very happy and this hardship has brought us closer imo.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I'm so glad it worked out for you... I've heard a lot of stories where people finally get pregnant after they've basically internalized the "fact" that it won't happen. It's amazing to me...I wonder if psychology plays a bigger role in all this than we even suspect. But yeah, congrats again and thanks so much for sharing. Thomas was born on 5/10/10 and is doing great. As some of you know we were planning a home birth, and thats how we started our labor. We ended up in the hospital getting a Caesarian so its a pretty interesting story, one which I hope to chronicle itt at some point. That being said if anyone wants to talk about home birth give me a PM or ask in here. I essentially did 9/10 of a home birth before we went to the hospital so I can give some pointers.

Also interested to discuss the vaccine thing that James brought up. We have already delayed our first vaccine which is Hepatitus B at birth and may be delaying/forgoing a few others in the near future. In general I am pro vaccine but wasn't to keen on my son getting vaccinated for an STD 30 minutes after entering the world, I figure he could wait a few weeks at least. There was a Frontline on the subject recently which had a slightly pro vaccine bent to it, but which I think is very informative.

Right now the one thing I am regretting is not spending more time either taking a class or reading a few books on newborn care. With the wife's surgery I had to step in as the lead guy and I was sort of planning to follow her lead. Simple **** like how often they should feed, how warm you should keep them, wtf Jaundice is can all be critical issues in the first few days at hospital.

It's awesome having a kid.
