TomCollins- I am very sorry to hear about your (and your wife's) loss. My husband and I went thru this in January at 13 weeks and it was devastating. Every couple's recovery time is different, and (as a lurker who loves this thread) I hope to see you on the list again too...

Thanks for the support. "Fortunately" this was pretty early. We had a dreadful experience at the first doctors appointment, but had no signs of trouble. I had to travel for work, and was able to schedule it the week after that appointment. But since that appointment was not what was promised, my wife had to go to another appointment the next week while my trip was scheduled. I expected a call from her after the appointment, but she was in tears, and I was with a customer, and it just hit me. Being away from her during it was the toughest part. I made it home 2 days later, which helped a ton. I just hate that I was away for it. We went back in and got another ultrasound, still no heartbeat, and everything looked to be even less developed, so we knew it wasn't meant to be.

My wife is taking it pretty hard. It was rough for me for a little, but has gone down. It was only a month of expecting, so we hadn't built up as much anticipation. However, I've always kind of been pretty removed away from grief situations. My dad died almost 3 years ago, and it was initial shock, then it was all business for me. Being around other people suffering seems to be the hardest part.

Time to get trying again. It was only our first month of trying that we got her pregnant, so hopefully it won't take too long to plant another seed. We will only appreciate it even more when it happens.

Indeed. This thread above all others affrms that very strongly, I would like to think.

Still, I'm sure many people reading this feel for you, even if they don't specifically say so here, and all will be very happy when it happens for you.

TC, really sorry to hear that. Me and my wife went through the same thing pretty early too so I know what you're going through. It'll be alright man, the doctors told us that its very common in first pregnancies. If it helps at all, my wife got pregnant again about a month and a half after the miscarriage and the whole thing went smoothly the 2nd time around. I really hope this is the case for you.

I know you dont know me either but for sure hit me up if you need an ear. I know its pretty rough right now.

Just saw this thread now, my wife is pregnant with our first baby due August 8th. We were married since 2005 and have been trying for 2 years.

Its a boy, last ultrasound yesterday had him at 5lbs 7oz. Dr told wife to cut carbs rest of the way so she can have an easier delivery. So far so good, I am pretty excited, he is very active in there! Will keep you updated.

Just found this thread and haven't had a chance to read more than this last page although I'll try to get a little more up to date now that I'll be subscribed.

My wife's due in early November with our first. We're going to register this weekend and starting to get into the "Oh sh** we have to get ready for this" mode.

Sorry for your loss TC. Fishette and I lost our first child as well. It was a little different as he was actually born (Early) and died shortly after birth. Doesn't matter though, it is still all hard and a very sad thing to go through. Everyone grieves differently. Remember, while you may be OK, your wife may still have things going on and you need to be aware and help her through that.

The good news is that just because something like this happens it is not the end. Fishette and I had two perfectly healthy children after this and everything was 100% fine. So, Best of luck going on.
