I've recorded and uploaded some piano and song covers to youtube every now and then, and today I finished my latest one. I figured I'd post here for some feedback and stuff!
The one I finished today, The Luckiest by Ben Folds. Not sure it's necessarily my best effort, but I'm not too unhappy with it despite an error here and there.
Bridge Over Troubled Water from a couple months back.
Elton John - Your Song. Think this turned out kinda well.
And finally an old one, which I uploaded in the summer of 2010. No song in this one, so it actually sounds kinda decent heh. It's actually been pretty popular, 78k views yo!
I'd really like to get some decent recording equipment, as what I have now leaves a lot to be desired. Well, when I do piano-only songs, the sound is recorded digitally straight to the computer and sounds good, but for most of my songs I use the built in mic on my video camera standing some distance away, which is kinda lol.
I'm also kinda aware that piano playing is my strong suit, and if I cut the song from my covers, they'd probably be better overall. You do what you enjoy though, I guess. That said I would like to make more piano-only covers in the near future.
Thanks for watching and any feedback or comments or whatever would be appreciated There's more videos too, if you want to check them out: Youtube Profile
I'm not feeling the vocals either, trust me it's better if people tell you rather than letting you think otherwise just because they want to be polite. It's hard to be constructive when criticizing vocals, they either sound good or they don't :/ The piano playing is great of course.
Eff the haters OP. I thought they were enjoyable, vocals or not... if you don't like his voice, you don't have to listen.
Here's one of me doing Radiohead's "Pyramid Song". I'm not the best singer either, and certainly no Thom Yorke, but figured I'd throw something out there since you started the thread. Not much to this tune piano wise, but then again I'm not the best player around from a technical standpoint.
+1 about OP's vocals. Not sure what it is - I think the voice is too deep and too monotonous or something. Definitely just focus on the playing which is lovely.
I only listened to OP's Elton song and the vocals were respectable. It's not like he was missing notes. I assume he could put a little more oomph and effort into it if he wasn't playing the piano simultaneously. The voice didn't add or detract anything for me really.
I think Pyramid Song is probably Radiohead's best song. I liked your cover, CandyKreep. Props for being able to sing over that weird ass piano time signature.
Orestes is one of my favorite APC songs, so I like your taste of covers haha. Your vocals really captured Maynard's vibe he had in that song.
I also see you have a Pendulum - Encoder cover. You have some good music on your page.

This be true.
He was on pitch for the most part, but it sounded like someone from another country (which makes sense) singing without any feeling almost, if that makes sense.
OP, I see you're not in the US, is English a second language by chance?

Thanks. Yeah, for such a simple song the timing really is a bastard to get down. I basically just put the headphones on and played to it non-stop until I finally got it. By the time I was done recording this, I never wanted to hear the song again lol.
Admittedly, not an artist I enjoy, but the song is okay when you don't have to listen to Celine Dion sing Superb piano playing in this... I really wish I had your hands. I have short, stubby fingers which is a pain in the ass when you're a piano player. I recently learned Moonlight Sonata, and I struggle just to hit the harmonic ninths.
