I just bought a digital camera. =D Never really used one before except for just random "Here let's take a pic okay hold this button? Got it" type stuff.
Canon SX10 IS. I like it a lot. I was going to get an entry-level SLR with a standard lens as well as a macro but:
- this ends up being about 40% cheaper
- flip out LCD screen is critical
So I left my house, walked to my car and hit the road.
I saw a lake, which lead to a stream. Then I went home.
I shot all of these in manual mode. No Photoshop work was done other than resizing from 1600x1200 to 1200x900 for the internet. I resized the panoramic shots as well.
Almost all shots are shot at ISO 200. It was really, really, really hazy that day but there was still enough natural light not to go any higher.
Some shots were shot with a slow shutter speed and high aperture and others were the opposite. *shrug* I just did what looked good on the LCD and it's kind of hard to judge. I took 246 pictures on my trip and came back with ~90 that I liked =D
While we're at it. any advice on resaving for best quality and size? My camera will not save in .raw mode(afaik this is not really a beat) I think only jpg. I saved some shots as JPG(the original ones) and they came out like garbage compared to png. The following shots, however, look fine in JPG. What's the deal? The png shots are ~2megs while the JPGs are ~1/4 of that.
Any advice for this iso/aperture/shutter speed stuff? Does it look like any of the originals should have been shot with different settings? I'm not so worried about the indoor shots because I wasn't really going crazy with them and indoor lighting with a point n shoot is always a dum beet anywayz
