I'm not saying Ynwie Malmsteen isn't very good at playing the guitar. He's obviously very technically good. But god he sucks imo. Just because someone can sweep pick a million miles an hour and all that crap doesn't make them a great musician and doesn't mean they can write great music.

Ynwie Malmsteen is faaaaar more technically proficient than Jimi Hendrix was, but Jimi Hendrix absolutely blows Yngwie Malmsteen away as a guitarist, musician, and song writer.

and still be classified a great musician. it takes experience and it is a feel thing. you just can't be technically lacking and musically robotic or it sounds that way. i may not know how to play guitar very well, but i def understand music. the kids you like lirva may be proficient on their instruments and can sing in pitch and write fun songs, but they are just that. kids. they lack a lot of experience and feel to their music. they are proficient kids, but not great musicians...at least not yet. i am not knocking your taste, just your interpretation. i like quite a few songs that aren't 'qualitly music'. hell i used to be a super music snob, but gave in to some enjoyable qualities to music rather than technicality or depth. they are an enjoyable group, but they are far from great musicians and not just imo. nothing personal, just had to say it.

FTR, Nirvana Unplugged is one of my favorite albums of all time. Great music to just relax to.

One of my top 10 favorite bands probably. If you've only heard the stuff they have released for radio you are really missing out imo.
