So in NYC with the GF for a few days. Tonight we are going to comedy cellar at 10pm. We are ideally looking for a place to grab dinner around there. Sushi preferred as GF does not eat meat.

Also booked our hotel the other day. Got park central hotel at 56th and 7th for 100 a night including taxes. Walls are thin but room is good sized and lobby is nice. Clearly great value. Booked room using some trip advisor 40% off coupon

There are two excellent Sichuan places on W. 39th, Szechuan Gourmet and Lan Sheng. Szechuan Gourmet was excellent on a couple of visits around 2 years ago, but recent reports suggest it's slipped a bit and Lan Sheng has overtaken it.

Il Melograno is a good and very reasonably priced Italian place around 10th and 51st. I'd also second the rec for Five Napkin Burger.
i think its between eatery, il melograno, and Trattoria Dopo Teatro.

anyone been to the third one? http://www.dopoteatro.com/index.html

always taking more suggestions as well!

TurnUpTheSun, im korean and i live around manhattan but i don't recommend most of the restaurants in koreatown. if you do go i'd recommend here and try out the korean BBQ if you like meat. I'd recommend marinated "galbi" although it might be on the high side of the price range

Never heard of it and I lived a block from there for 2 years.

Nizza is very good as well, same group as 5 Napkin/Nice Matin, on the same block as 5 Napkin Burger--they actually have the entire block on that side, as Marseille is in the same group. I like Marseille but it's a little pricier and stuffier.

15 East is good, just off of Union Square.

When i 1st went to NYC i went straight to times sq. Stood in the middle of it. Put my hands in the air and looked straight up to the skies while spinning round slowly. It looked amazing as all the skyscrapers meet together in perspective.
Once i finished i expected everyone to be looking at me like i was nuts. But nobody paid any attention. I guess people doing crazy **** like that is normal in NY.
Amazing city..

New Yorkers definitely barely notice strange things given they are happening everywhere. Additionally, not trying to hate since I was amazed by Times Square the first time I was there as well, but if you live in NYC you avoid the Times Square / Rock Center area at all costs. Just a crowded mess of tourists that is miserable to walk through.

If you want trendy hotels, Gansevoort and the Standard are in Meatpacking.

Village restaurants that I love are:

Alta (big tapas bar)
Bell, Book & Candle (farm-to-table)
Tremont (Hamptons-style restaurant)
Tertulia (phenomenal Spanish cider house)

Have a bunch of others (like 100 place on my list) across East, Greenwich and West Village but would need guidance on what you are looking for.

Anybody been to 123 Burger Shot Beer? I've heard it is good, but haven't ventured over there yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions for gluten free options? I recently started seeing a celiac and would like to take her somewhere with good food. I found risotteria after some googling that got good reviews and is reasonably priced.

RE hotels Mercer Hotel, Hotel on Rivington, Bowery Hotel and Ace Hotel are all pretty cool but kinda pricey. Cookshop, Blaue Gans and Extra Virgin in the Village are some great places...also the E. Village wine bar Veloce. I like that beer garden at the Standard which is a cool place to have drinks outside. But my favorite hole in the wall bars are down on Rivington (Lorelay) and in the LES in general.....so many good places to go to in NYC hard to objectively opine on the best ones...

Still think Blue Ribbon, Bond Street and Yama are 3 pretty awesome longstanding NYC sushi places - not cheap but not crazy either (like Masa/Morimoto/etc.). Sushi Samba is not bad but kind of a tired brand IMO.

My wife and I went to Little Italy to check it out and basically walked around for two minutes, laughed at it, and left.
Oh man Bianca is awesome Italian and so cheap for NYC.....great place!!

Very little "Italian" left in Little Italy as OP said...Chinatown has basically completely enveloped it. But I like walking around Chinatown and then over to Tribeca it's kinda fun and you are never that far away from cool places in the LES and Tribeca.

hey guys I'm going to be in NYC for the weekend, am staying around 42nd near hell's Kitchen.

Are there any tapas recs or any big must eats? I'm not looking to do 4 hour meals but I am on the lookout for ridic good food (Gonna try to hit up as many momofuku restaurants as possible).

Also, any cool jazz/lounge/mixology bar recs would be great! ty

I also have my camera w/me so if there are some places to walk around in this miserable winter for some photography shots, I'd like to do that as well

This place is gluten free but neither myself or my GF (who is a vegetarian) liked it. The whole raw food thing was interesting but some things frankly just missed and given the price I wouldn't go back. I would guess some of the farm to table places might work but frankly don't know.

Tapas--I really love Txikito, which is convenient to where you're staying. I haven't been to Tertulia yet but I loved Seamus Mullen's work at Boqueria so I'm sure that's great too.

Mixology--PDT, Clover Club if you feel like going to Brooklyn, Pegu Club for gin drinks, Mayahuel for mezcal drinks, Death & Co. are all in my top tier. Employees Only has a good reputation but the one time I was there was a weekend and it was a ****show.
