Just stumbled across this incredible acapella version of "Skyfall", with the same lush orchestration as the original. Yes, an acapella version with lush orchestration. Must be seen to be believed.

I have a question for you all. If the next Bond movie had to be a remake of one of the previous movies, which would be the best choice?

Hmmm... I think Goldfinger might play well in today's economic crisis.
I also think Craig fits the mold of a gritty, cold blooded Bond in The Living Daylights or Licence To Kill, like Dalton (who just had bad timing audience-wise).

I would say On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but we just killed off a Bond love interest.

Maybe A View to a Kill with Walken reprising his role and an actual chick rather than Grace Jones.

From Russia With Love in a post-Soviet Russia would be a fun twist.

You couldn't do any of the Roger Moore ones; just too silly for the new Bond.

Surely that's a good reason to remake them? You can redo them without all the cheese (ofc this may leave them with not much to work with, other than the title).

Looks like Chiwetel Ejiofor will be the new Bond villain.

Here's a little quiz from the Guardian today. I got a rather poor 7/10.

Quiz: Can you match each of these Bond villains with their own evil plot?

Question 6 doesn't offer the correct answer as a choice.

Well I got 10 out of 10, but it is inconsistent. 1 depends on whether you mean the book or the film.

And the Live and Let Die choice is not correct.

Etc

Wow. I got 7/10. "Get Bond hooked on crack." Lol.

I wonder which ones I got wrong, since I've seen every Bond film many, many times over. Been a fan for almost twenty years now. My favorite movie series by far.

Got 10/10 also, but a couple of nitpicks:

On Q5, the evil plot of Drax is to wipe out only human life on Earth (the nerve gas he dispatched didn't harm animals or plants).

On Q9, General Chang was a minor character in TND (who was barely seen or heard from). The main villain was media mogul Elliot Carver.

Oh yeah, anyone watch that BBC show "Fleming?" Thought it was entertaining, but have heard that's not even close to how life was for Ian Fleming. Obv.

Yeh I think it was a pretty much completely fictionalised account of his life. I saw it was on but didn't hear great things so gave it a miss.

I've just seen this behind the scene photos of some Bond movies.

Lots more photos from other films here:

For those with Time Warner cable, EPIX has been running 24/7 bond movies basically.

Not sure how I missed this thread before, as I'm a fairly massive Bond fan (username is a reference to one film, avatar is obv Roger Moore pre-Bond).

Moonraker. Using the title and some elements from the book and almost nothing from the film.

But I don't see any reason to remake a made film when there's plenty of original Fleming material yet to be used (after all, they didn't use much from MR). Not to mention all the continuation novels. I just read Never Dream of Dying and it was way better than most of the other continuation novels. Although EON doesn't own the rights and probably wouldn't bother buying them.

Fiona Volpe "do you like wild things Mr Bond, James Bond?"

Emilio Largo.

Jaws for about 1 1/2 movies.

That's damn near impossible. One of the best is when Bond shoots Dent in cold blood in Dr No. That just wasn't done in 1962.

Both From Russia With Love themes are great (end credits and credits sequence).

Thunderball.

Roger Moore. While his movies got campy, I can't help loving him. He's so funny, so charming, and seems to be having so much fun. Men are supposed to want to be Bond. Who the hell wants to be Craig? Sure he's a badass, but he's constantly being tortured and seems miserable most of the time.

That brings me to the topic of Craig's Bond films. I was not in the original anti-Craig contingent, and I mostly loved Casino Royale (although they could have cut 15-20 minutes and not lost much). However the last two films have pretty much left me cold. They've made a big deal about going away from the "formula" and "cliches", but you can only do that so much before you're not really making a James Bond movie. Start your own damn franchise. A question I've had a hard time getting a straight answer to: if you took the last two films and stripped on the Bond name, would you even be able to tell that it's a ripoff of a Bond movie?

Well, finally another post here! I miss our Bond discussions! Best. Franchise. Ever.

Few quick responses:

I'm assuming you mean when Jaws "falls in love" with the nerd chick with the big rack. Lol. Agreed there!

I have the soundtrack to all the Bond themes and every Friday at work, I dub it "007 day" and play it. The FRWL song/theme/credits is one of my favorites as well, top 5 for sure.

I used to loooooove Roger Moore myself, until Goldeneye came out (I was 11 at the time, first Bond movie seen in theaters). But as I get older (30 now), I really appreciate Connery the most. I think Craig is perfect for today's Bond though.

Loved Casino Royale and a reboot was definitely needed. I think Skyfall may be my favorite actually. Thought it was really well done, and the tone was something we hadn't seen since Licence to Kill in a way.

PS- I Haven't read all of the books, but I'm working on it though!
