Listening to Disturbed's new album "Asylum" at the moment, sounds good so far but i usually have to give albums a couple of listens for it to sink in.

I'm listening to Sam Cooke. Wonderful World, You Send Me, Change is Gonna Come, etc. This is positive beautiful music that also has ideas attached to it. The world needs more of this.

Great song!

Also, I've been listening to Brian Eno a bit. Listened to Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks, and immediately put it on my MP3 player. One of the songs had a bit that reminded me of "Light Bath," a song from David Byrne's album The Catherine Wheel. Also started listening to Ambient 1: Music for Airports. And a little of Neroli, which is extremely spare to the point of being mostly silence. Only a buck for it on Amazon. It's an hour-long single track.

I love that album. Took about 3-4 playthroughs for it to really grow on me.

At the risk of being too self-serving in this thread, I'll add my poker song "A Chip And A Chair" for the consideration of you music-lovers. I'm not the performer but one of the writers of the song. I started a thread for it already and have gotten some good replies but I figure there may be some music-lovers checking in here who may miss it elsewhere. We were fortunate enough to get the WPT to allow us use of their footage in the video! Hope you enjoy!

Big Star - #1 Record/Radio City

Also, I'm about to listen to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band for the first time, will report back after. My prediction is that it's going to be far too weird and trippy for me.

First impression: pretty awesome imo. **** sitars though. Norwegian Wood was only tolerable because it's about John Lennon burning some bitch's house down, and as best I can tell Within You Without You is like the exact opposite of that. **** that noise.

Landonfan's post, along with the bumping earlier today of the cover song thread, made me think of Al Green's version of "I Want to Hold Your Hand". In the first part, the Reverend says "I got the feeling now" several times. One of the band members finally says, "Shutup Al Green". Then Green starts singing. You really have to listen to this. It's fantastic.

Check out the breakdown at 1:40, and the terrifying shift that happens right around 5:00. Good lord. Is Pridgen in some sort of trance? I could never perform with these guys because I would be too busy genuflecting.

Awful. The original with just Cee-Lo is so much better.

Now listening to Revolver. Aside from the sitar, these Beatle dudes are pretty rad.
