I'm sure it's been metioned itt, but Weezers blue album is genius and great for a run. Also anything by Rage Against the Machine is good for a workout (I've been @ the gym).
I have such conflicted feelings about the Smiths. I came to them really late, and I probably like the groups they influenced better than I like them. But they're so weird in their own way. I love Big Mouth Strikes Again. I often listen to that for 2 or 3 hours straight.
This guy is reminiscent of a young Dylan, full of raw talent. He's not really political, more of a storyteller, and definitely has his own style. Highly recommend his album.
Phil Ochs -- When I'm Gone, a profound beautiful song about the transitory nature of human existence and the importance of making our lives count for something.
This is the only Youtube I could find of Ochs singing this. I feel bad for the Youtube guy's story, and it's telling that this song spoke to him as he dealt with his tragedy.
