Over the years I have listened to a lot of music mostly in the rock and heavy metal genres. But lately I am only interested in music to while I am playing poker online.

Too sentimental music would probably make me emotional and therefore easily tilt.

So, while that wasn't one of the genres I ever chose by myself to listen to at home, the latest music I found is that below. The key thing about it is that it has no lyrics to distract me, and it is of the right type, including due to BPM to get me focused.

Other music I may try to listen while playing sometimes is this set below. I discovered it from a poker stream by Greek streamer DimisPoker, who was kind enough to give me a link to the music he is playing over. This one has some lyrics too but I find overall also helpful for concentrating.

Rhapsody in blue by George Gershwin.

Had to do a 2 + hour road trip a few days ago. Started off with the full 4 movement rhapsody in blue, which is about 45 mins total. It started over at some point while we chatted over the music and the conversation continued into the second movement before i put on doobie brothers and later james brown. All aboard! Night train!

Premiered by the Paul Whiteman and his Palais Royal Orchestra at the Aeolian Hall Concert in 1924. The clarinet solo at the beginning was added in rehearsal by the clarinetist just fooling around. Gershwin liked it and kept it in.

Also introduced other forms of jazz, such as Scott Joplin and this one:



This concert along with the Armory Show of 1913 introduced America to Modernism in the US.

I have my students write research papers on a subject of my choice. This semester they are doing their papers on "Strange Fruit," its history and influence.
