LF, get a copy of The River. It was considered more "radio friendly" in it's day, with a host of feverish rockers and party songs, but songs like Point Blank and the title track (amongst others) are Springsteen at his most darkly introspective, and beautifully crafted and performed by the E Street Band, to boot.

If you like acoustic stuff, Nebraska is a bleak as it gets, the cuts all originally meant to be demos. The solitary performance, just voice, guitar, and the creaking chair and surface noise of the tape recorder, creates a downright lonesome sound that underscores the isolation and desperation of the songs.

Just got into this band PAPERCUTS. They're kind of modern 60's, Brian Jonestown Massacre + Devendra Banhart + a little Velvet Underground at times.

Check out Future Primitive, one of their singles.

Mistaken For Strangers is probably my favourite song by The National. Just found them a couple of months and have been hooked since. Ada and Karen are also particularly good.

Human Touch by Bruce Springsteen

I like the acknowledgement of human weakness combined the shared need for spiritual and physical community.

They took a lot of crap for that album, but it was a hell of a lot of fun.

They're yowling and clicking, it's strange sounds. Red Angel Dragnet is to kill for.

I also watched a video of them singing Know Your Rights, and they were so just, just killed it. Look how cool these guys are, and how great a sound, so original

Conan had a great tribute to Joe Strummer when he died. Very moving. It's probably still out there somewhere.

Combat Rock has always been my favorite Clash album, I like it much better than London Calling.

It's a great album that is forced to live in the shadow of one of the most highly acclaimed albums ever.

I had a friend in college that swore by Sandinista. He was a rabid rabid fan. London Calling is great, but Combat Rock connected with me. It's the only Clash album I ever owned.

Been Listening to Wu Tang vs. The Beatles off and on for a few weeks now. It's one of those hip-hop mash-ups where they use loops and samples from the Beatles and combine them with beats and lyrics from Wu Tang. It's really, really good. It was available as a free download for a while, but after a quick Google search I can't seem to find it anymore. If you're interested, I'm sure a little more effort would prove successful. Well worth it if you like hip-hop music at all.

I'm listening to Beethoven's 9th symphony. I don't know jack about classical music, but this makes me want to invade Poland and bomb England.
