When we were commissioning a new vessel one guy at work got the nickname “Ting Ting” after he said “It will be fine” shortly followed by a Ting Ting sound as a lump of welding swarf descended the pipe and destroyed the pump impeller.
I love them so much...should be in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
Agree. Everybody has a right to their own party band, and the B-52s were the party band for half the world's population. I think there is something going on about coolness or politics or major chords or geography or who knows what.
in high school i was listening to the cream of clapton cd with headphones when class was at the computer lab and this song was the one currently playing
ryan bergeron was like "hey rickroll what are listening to?" and yanked the headphone jack out of my computer so it blasted on the speakers
everyone thought it was the weirdest music and i was i weirdo for listening to old music
granted the bangers of smashing pumpkins and green day of that era still hold up today and are awesome, but this event my freshman basically confirmed that adult rickroll would be happier than teen rickroll
to be clear, i didn't have a tough childhood nor got bullied etc, was just an oddball for listening to clapton before he got based
Re the B52s, I can’t comprehend how Kate managed to make such a noise using only her vocal tract, I would have thought that a lot of expensive machines would have had to be involved.
Contraininan people who don’t think that the Beatles are the best band ever have a slight problem, whichever band they choose as a counterpoint can always be heard saying “Main influence, well the Beatles obviously “
Clearly not the thread for this but I feel it should be undisputed, the Beatles are the greatest. The conversation would be better served to start: who is the second best band of all time.
Anyway, I love this thread. Missed out on the brilliance of the B52s, not sure how.

The Beatles were one in a long line of Brit bands trying to save Pop from Rock 'n Roll. If you like Pop and hate Rock, they certainly qualify as being ok.
