I've been listening to the Mountain Goats' Tallahassee album after I ran across this hilarious song, No Children: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRP6e...eature=related

"I hope I lie
And tell everyone you were a good wife
And I hope you die
I hope we both die

I hope I cut myself shaving tomorrow
I hope it bleeds all day long
Our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises
We're pretty sure they're all wrong

I hope it stays dark forever
I hope the worst isn't over
And I hope you blink before I do
And I hope I never get sober

And I hope when you think of me years down the line
You can't find one good thing to say
And I'd hope that if I found the strength to walk out
You'd stay the hell out of my way

I am drowning
There is no sign of land
You are coming down with me
Hand in unlovable hand"

Beatles - Dear Prudence

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ppmdvXsMBE

Edit: Scrap that. I don't even know wtf I'm talking about. Dear Prudence is probably my favourite Beatles song but I always kinda hated John Lennon somehow.
Hating Lennon is kinda wow, but listening to Julia and knowing it's about the mom who abandoned him and still hating him is really wow.

That album also has Looking Through a Glass Onion, and I think it has The Long and Winding Road on it. Also Blackbird.

Anyway I think that the album carries its weight on Julia and Back in the USSR alone, easily. The rest is not filler, but it rises and falls according to the level of genius of the moment. And I think The Long and Winding Road is one of the best Beatles songs ever. Ray Charles would agree. But I am having a devil of a time finding his rendition.

Also: Still listening to Till Bronner's album, Oceana. Especially In My Secret Life. I am the last thing from a fan of the trumpet, but Bronner knows how to work it in a way that's sad but mature and accepting; it's really hard to describe. But he can take very good material and make it much better. And he seems to find the best singers. They really make an outstanding package.

Long And Winding Road is on Let It Be. And it's just Glass Onion not Looking Through A Glass Onion.

Well he also wrote Norwegian Wood about an affair he didn't want his wife to know about. That's not very nice.

Stinking Lizaveta is a power trio from Philadelphia that plays heavy instrumental rock. MusicMight categorizes them as "doom jazz".

i dunno, this album is awesome tho.

Previewing Vampire Weekend's new album .... similar sound, not sure how I feel about it. I think Taxi Cab and Run are my favorites.

I feel like a moron. I'm listening to a lot of Rick Rubin early productions this week and have never heard any Danzig. I've listened to a ton of Misfits and old hardcore/punk. That album was really dope so I can't wait to listen to it all.
