Today I'm mostly listening to chill, laidback music.
Mostly Wax Tailor, Jazzanova and Slowhill (amazingly good, one of my fav. Too bad you can't find many Slowhill songs on Youtube -> have to rely on Spotify).

I decided to give the Beatles one more shot and got Rubber Soul, and I'm really impressed. I think I'll go chronologically from here and try Revolver next.

It also inspired me to revisit the White Album and see if my tastes have changed or maybe I just didn't listen closely enough before, but I'm still not getting it. Some of it's good, some is meh, and the rest sounds like Country Bear Jamboree tripping balls.

That's the White Album imo. Maybe you do get it. First two tracks - Dear Prudence and Back in the USSR - are like Lennon's best shot and McCartney's best shot, at that time. Which of the two songs you prefer indicates which of the two artists you prefer imo.

Beatles - Dear Prudence

Edit: Scrap that. I don't even know wtf I'm talking about. Dear Prudence is probably my favourite Beatles song but I always kinda hated John Lennon somehow.

I downloaded Lil Wayne's Rebirth album... leaked out and was to be released in April. But I'm not sure if it is the complete album? Anybody who knows?

Anyway I like it a lotz.

That's what makes it brilliant.

I came across these HD vids of Scofield, Medeski, Martin and Wood on youtube and they are great. Play that funky music white boy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWc99ZeG6w8 - A Go Go
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y93k-9cb9s - Little Walter Rides Again
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJp3WRdEMps - Hottentot

And there are others as well. I haven't listed to A Go Go for years but it's still probably an all time top 10 album for me. Every track is just a killer groove and Scofield is my favourite jazz guitarist (and MMW aren't exactly chumps either) + memories of listening to it when I was 15-18 = good times.

Also this comment:

I can't beleive all the jazz nerds in the audience aren't dancing.
Couldn't agree more.

drive like jehu - yank crime

9.9/10 album, right behind abbey road for me, not that they are related. drive like jehu is loud and noisy.
recommended tracks: golden brown, super unison, luau, new math

I'm listening to an Athens, GA. group called Dreams So Real, their first album, Rough Night in Jericho, produced by REM's Peter Buck. Jangly alt-rock, sincere flattery. I like it, feel like I discovered a lost REM album recorded between Reckoning and Fables. Could use a few more rough edges, though.

I never used to rate XO much (compared to his other albums) but over the past few months I've gained a newfound appreciation for it. I still wouldn't rank it above Either/Or or Elliott Smith but it's closer now than it used to be.

I've only been listening to it for a couple days, but I think it's up there with Either/Or. Self-titled is still the best, though.

The fact that Josh Homme wrote those songs from 17-19 makes me so unaccomplished.

I was just on a stoner metal and then black metal binge. I wanted to smash faces and get high.
