If you're discussing music, stick to it.

If you're going to work in an opportunity to call atheism nihilistic and cruel maybe you're just getting too involved in the thread. Or too involved in something, somehow.

Reverse it and ask yourself whether someone's saying Christianity was nihilistic and cruel -- in the middle of a music thread, no less -- would strike you as expectable and unremarkable, would likely have no effect on or offend anyone, and would likely not be seen as goading people.

Unless you believe atheists are not people.

Stick to the music.

I was discussing music. Kioshk had mentioned the song was nihilistic, and was wondering how Cash reconciled that with his beliefs. My point was that that brand of fundamentalism is as seemingly bleak as nihilistic thought. I wasn't "goading" atheists, and if you feel that way, then you're the one who is taking things to heart a little strongly.

Read the post again. I said that that form of Christianity was cruel. And you get, from that, I was somehow maligning atheists?

Wow. Sensitive little ****ers, aren't you?

Well, it wasn't intended as such. I see Nihilism, existentially, defined as life having no objective purpose, when in actuality, it has a darker impression. So I guess that is why you guys were so upset. But I didn't intend it as a swipe. Atheism is not necessarily nihilistic. So accept my apologies for the unintended slur.

I still don't see the "cruel atheism" being addressed, but I guess that's as good as we're gonna get.

New Tom Petty Live Anthology -

4 discs of live tracks spanning his career picked by him, not chronological and mixed to sound like one concert.

crazy, absurdly good and only $20 for 4 discs.

Petty is the one artist I've seen live the most often. Simply fantastic.

Speaking of cruel atheism, I've been listening to Slayers "God hates us all" today (Fun fact: released on 9/11/01). Angry, even for Slayer.

Pearl Jam- Yeah 10 sucks. Vitology much better, of course Soundgarden and A.I.C. were always head and shoulders above these clowns, imo.

Willie Nelson has always been known as a bit of a duet whore so the following really shouldn't be much of a surprise;

The Blasters

Thelonius Monk and John Coltrane

This could be a followup to L.A. Freeway

Couldn't help but enjoy some Peter Gabriel today.

Solsbury Hill

One of my favorite songs of his. Makes me want to do something dangerous... like quit my job.

I'm listening to the Cranberries. That lady had a unique voice. I hadn't even thought about them for years, and then I heard Linger playing in the grocery store the other day. They really had a special sound.
