Now I'm listening to the great Roger Miller.

"2 hours of pushing broom buys an 8 by 12 4-bit room. I'm a man of means by no means."

"Dang me, dang me, they oughta take a rope and hang me."

Another good 70's song is Gold, by John Stewart.

Catchy as hell. Sadly, as I was googling this, I found out that John Stewart died last year.

I had the album this is on: Bombs Away Dram Babys. Also, Stewart was a member of the Kingston Trio.

The new David Gray album is excellent.

He continues to kick ass, without changing his style.

The last track is a duet with Annie Lennox.

Highly recommend.

I know what you mean - hardly anyone likes/gets the Fall! But they are an acquired taste that's well worth acquiring. I used to be indifferent to them for ages but now I adore them. Try this one - now and again they come up with
really catchy melodies.

Touch Sensitive. Say Hey Hey Hey.

BTW, I used to have a great Bilko tee-shirt just like Robbie Box wore on Big Deal... if anyone can remember that!

Funnily enough, my previous favourite Fall record was John Peel's least favourite. You remember the Festive 50 huh, ernie?

Of course, the Festive Fifty was required listening (there's a huge torrent with every Festive Fifty if you look) . It's still going actually:

http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk/festive50.htm

and, no surprise, for 2008, The Fall was No 1 (50 year old Man), No 7 (Wolf Kidult Man) and there's a Fall cover (Container Drivers) at No 6. There's also some interesting stats: The Fall had nearly twice as many Festive fifty entries as the next most popular band (Wedding Present) but the all-time Festive Fifty is basically headed by the track lists of Joy Division's first 2 albums. No 1 of all time is Atmosphere.

Some great songs in those lists! Remember this one which made the all-time list?

Another Girl, Another Planet.

I look ill but i don't care about it.

Talking of The Only Ones, I thought Baby's Got a Gun was a good album which almost nobody else ever knew about. Haven't listened to it in a while though.

Edit: I like the song Oh Lucinda (Love becomes a habit) off that album.

Thats Sergey Rachmaninoff, performed by Alexis Weissenberg.

Mindslip.

By far the best recording of the Preludes, IMO... and IN FACT.

As a result of an OOT thread about the top ten albums of the decade, I'm working my way through all the Pitchfork's top 20 I don't know yet, in no particular order. I'm starting with the Animal Collective, who I've heard of but never listened to before.

I like My Girls and In the Flowers. These songs sound good to me. Kind of a lush sound.

Good Decision, IMO

When the climax of ITF comes in, it absolutely crushes me. Despite being a huge AC fan, I think My Girls is really overrated. The whole album is fantastic, btw, and if you like it, check out their other albums, too... I personally think it is their third best, although general consensus differs.

So you know, Panda Bear's Person Pitch, which is like #7(?) is an AC side project, by the guy who is singing on My Giirls.

IDK if you are familiar with LCD Soundsystem already, but, if not, I would go there next.

Have fun! Doubt you will be disappointed with any of the albums.
