Us British folk of a certain age are, probably quite rightly, accused of being obsessed with the music that came out from the punk/ new wave scene in the late seventies/ early eighties. This may be correct, but stuff like this came out every week.

As an aside “Pump it up “ was regarded as a bit of a come down from Elvis Costello.

Now that Daft Punk retired there's basically only Sébastien Tellier from around that french touch era that's still producing good stuff

Anybody listen to Nation of Language? Old school synth pop.

I am going to see them in early March

I was just talking with a friend, he was on the way to pick up his mother in a law, he said to me “I’ve just put the heating on full blast, hopefully she will fall asleep and not just constantly talk nonsense “
Some experiences are universal

There are some girls you think the words “Mighty fine “ are invented to describe.

Yea, I didn't really like Meat Loaf until Bat out of hell part 2 (I had this girl who for years prior really tried to sell him to me but I just ignored all of her recommendations since I had this image of Meat Loaf as a flamboyant dick who was all image and no talent), but when BOOH2 came out, I had this other friend who it turned out worshiped Meat Loaf and so I had to check out that album.

I've had a few 180s on artists/bands, but Meat Loaf is probably my biggest one - I loved Bat out of hell 2 and on checking out his older stuff I found that was even better. Never really connected with that girl later on, but I sometimes wish I did, if only to tell her how right she was and what an idiot I was who could've discovered Meat Loaf so much sooner.

The pairing of Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman is one of the best in all of music history - I can't think of any other musical co-operation that match each other so well.

"Paradise by the dashboard lights" is one of my favourites - there's an earlier live-version that is more famous/common (and tbh Meat Loaf probably performs even better in that one), but I just love Aspen Miller in the one linked above.

On a more cheerful note (and what could be more cheerful than whiskey served in brothels to keep away the pain?) :

Spoiler:
Google says: "The O’Reillys and the Paddyhats are an Irish folk punk band from Germany."

There's obviously nothing right about this, but here we are.

One week temp ban for posting Tool in the Lounge. I used to limit temp bans to Lil' Wayne posts, but have added Tool as part of my Inclusive Excellence program.
