Definitely worth a read, it sent me down so many rabbit holes that I need a myxomatosis jab.
Rumour has it Joel was just about to throw this song away because he couldn't get it right, and then Cindy Lauper happened to pass by and liked it. Not sure that's true, but it does make you wonder how many great songs might never have reached us because the artists just didn't think they were good enough at the time while some coincidence might've saved them.
And since we're talking about Cindy Lauper - if anyone here still hasn't watched Strictly Ballroom, you very much really should.
The Joe Satriani/Rick Beato video that I posted in the jazz thread. Joe talks about recording for 2 hours, then telling his wife it was crap and deleting it the next day. It's a funny video. He talks about wanting to understand the secrets/ mystery of music as a fledgling musician and seeking Yoda.
I was listening to the radio, a song came on and I thought “Nothing much to this, but a nice hook line”. Then “Just Like Heaven “ came on. More hooks than a fisherman’s convention and it speaks to your soul.
