Hey, sorry if if this isn't the right thread for my question - wasn't sure if I should put it in the LC thread.
I just bought a few Beatles records (vinyl) online. I'm going to put them, jackets and all, in frames and hang them on the wall. I already have a few, but wanted a couple more for a nice grouping.
Problem is, when I opened the package today, the albums reek of smoke. Clearly some old dude had them since the 60's and sat back in his La-Z-Boy in his wood panel study, puffing away while listening on his hi-fi.
I've done some Googling, but thought I'd ask here. Anyone know a good way to get rid of the stank? It's definitely more on the jackets than on the records, which I assume is a problem. I'm going to start by just airing them out, but I'll move on to other methods, like putting them in a box with drier sheets and what-not.
Now, since I'm going to frame them, I suppose there's a chance the smell won't be noticeable, but it's not like the frames are air-tight and the smoke smell might permeate the rear panel of the frame, since it's just thick cardboard.
I suppose I could always toss them, but I'd hate to waste the money (I only paid $45 for four, so it wasn't bad at all).
I dont know man cigarette smoke is the worst. Ive personally seen it ruin entire half floors of hotels. If they cant figure out how to get it out Im not sure how many options youre going to have. Good luck you need somebody with a trick or informercial
