If anyone is looking for an apartment, my brother wants to rents a 3 room apartment with terrace located in the absolute center of Palermo (only 2 blocks away from Sugar, at El Salvador and Gurruchaga), in a building that has a pool, between the 12th July and the 20th August. He wants 1500 dollars for all the period. If you want to know more about it or see pictures PM me.

40s,

Your question has been asked at least 10 times in the thread, answered around 5 times, and discussed in depth at least once very recently. If you read the thread you'll find the answers to that question plus every other question you might have regarding BsAs.
Besides, the answer depends on what you want to do in BsAs, where and how you want to live, and where and what you want to eat, so you're asking a bit much when you just want people to list random expenses. Instead you could tell us what exactly you plan on doing, and then a helpful soul might come along and answer. But before you do that, you should really read the thread.

De nada

Actually, on the subject of expenses, I was thinking recently that we may want to have a mod edit the OP of this thread with some sort of information regarding the state of inflation so that people understand that the numbers posted a long time ago (especially in the thread that came before this one) may no longer be accurate.

Yeah that's true, but it's still changing. In the time I've been here I've noticed prices going up on a lot of stuff while the exchange rate has barely moved.

Also, since we were talking recently about the safety of various parts of Palermo, there was just a special report on tv about the "insecurity" of the area of Santa Fe and Juan B Justo. They were calling it "Palermo Robo".

I was in BsAs for a couple of months(just came home in the beginning of May), and prices rose about 30% due to the exchange rate of ARS/DKK(Danish kroner). The Danish currency is tied to the Euro, so I suppose the same increase pertains to anyone taking out money from ATMs while being charged in Euros(or any other European currency tied to the Euro), though I'm just guessing.
At the same time the inflation on food was in the 10%-range, so it got a lot more expensive while I was there.
I don't follow the ARS/USD exchange rate, so I don't know how much the stronger USD offset the inflation.

Soah,

Apparantly, I lived in "Palermo Robo" and I didn't have any worries with regards to safety. The Argies seem to worry a lot about safety though, and my landlord talked about the safety in the area saying that it wasn't too good, and that I should take care at night, but I didn't have any problems at all at any time of the day.

Meh, I'd be more worried about Godoy Cruz late at night by myself.

Still feel safer here than in London...

They weren't talking about literally that specific intersection, but that general area where Soho/Hollywood meet.

Someone we know here got robbed recently in that area, fwiw. A couple teens started hitting him and took his wallet.

yeah, I know a couple of people who have been mugged at the railroad crossings at Honduras/Gorritti. Placing a handful of cops around the dozen or so worst spots in soho/hollywood would just about eliminate opportunistic muggings, but that would be too easy of a fix for this city.

ill be going to BA in September and staying until mid-december. what are my opportunities to play basketball for a real team? and i obviously dont mean like a professional team but like a second/third league or something similar.

how is the basketball scene in Argentina, is it a popular sport? do they have a lot of streetball courts in the city where people play pickup games?

I've had trouble finding a basketball league here, most of them are far out from the city. I'm sure there's some pick up games going on somewhere, but they seem pretty hidden. I've also considered starting my own although you probably need at least 10 regulars. There's no real public streetball courts here unfortunately.
