Anyone been to La Union at Gorriti and Juan B Justo? I've walked past a bunch of times and it looks classy, but I've never been. Says its like 100 pesos though, so I'd expect good things.

Does anyone know where we can eat Kobe steak ? Jerry and I would like to test (both para la primera vez). How much should we expect to pay ? Any advice (wine...) ?

Yeah it's pretty good. I'd say Don Julio, La Dorita and Miranda are a little better and maybe a little cheaper. I think you are paying a little for that farmhouse decor.

Apparently La Cabrera offers 'Kobe' steak in the 80-100 peso range. I use quotations bc if it were Kobe (shipped from Japan) it would be 8-12 times as much. It is prolly some Wagyu/Argentine cattle mix that for all I know could be just as good as the real deal. But whatever the case, this isn't the stuff you are paying $25US per ounce for in Vegas.

As far as wine. The best value is Finca la Linda Malbec; I drink it 70% of the time. Other Malbecs in the mid range I like a lot are Los Alamos, Terrazas, Casa Weinart. Around the $100 peso range, Rutini and Luigi Bosca are awesome. My absolute favorite in the world is Zuccardi Q Temperanillo, which will run you around $100AR at a wine store, so maybe $180 at a restaurant

Without discussing wagyu and kobe, the main difference is due to the feed. Most USA beef is grain fed. Cows aren't designed to digest grain and it causes very fatty meat. This adds some juiciness and makes them more tender on average. Most Argentine beef is grass fed, which is leaner and a little tougher, but also with a meatier flavor. The fat in grass fed beef is full of omega-3's and actually quite good for you, unlike the fat in grain fed...funny how the meat crazy argy's are all skinny.

This also leads to the difference in how meat is cooked. Argy style is low and slow, which helps break down the toughness. Most steakhouses in the US cook at extremely high temps to sear in the juices.

As mentioned earlier, most steaks are not seasoned with anything but salt in AR. It's more of a personal preference, but I prefer the flavor of grass fed beef. In fact, when I'm in the US, I search it out and pay the hefty premium for it.

Went to an irish pub in puerto madero today and ordered 3 guinesses without looking at the price. Bill came back at $114 pesos w/out tip.

not super surprising especially in puerto madero. The last time I was in Kilkenny about 7-8 months ago I remember Pints of guiness just being ridiculous. Like 35 pesos a pint. I believe or at least would like to believe that they get the straight guiness from Ireland as opposed to the US where guiness has their own breweries there. I'm told it has a different taste than the US version. I don't know though, never been to Ireland. So a lot of that comes from taxes, tariffs and shipping.

yeah that's exactly where i went. the guinness was pretty comparable to the USA. 38 pesos a beer. i'll stick to $3.80 liters of budweiser at the supermarket

The Guinness in the Kilkenny is very good for a bar outside of Ireland

as most of you like beer, this place is not "that far" is right across the Temaiken Zoo, in Escobar, if anyone has trouble finding the best way to go just ask me, I use to go there Escobar a lot.
The place basically offers A LOT of different beers, you can dine there but I would just recommend beer!!!!!
The price use to be average but i don't know right now, son if its expensive don't blame me lol

Barbaroja has its bungalows and you can stay the night, they sell kegs and souvenirs, its a really nice place, i do recommend it!
