I have a sneaking suspicion that the "museum" you were going to go to was actually a nightclub anyway.

Hmm... good posts. I'm also trying to make a decision between Buenos Aires and Thailand.

The main things I'm looking for:

1. A balance of night life and cultural things to see. A good night life is awesome, but if there's nothing to do during the day what's the point?

2. Cost - it sounds like both are pretty reasonable and similar

3. Language - I only took 2 years of spanish in high school, so at best I'd be able to make out a few common nouns here and there. There's no way I'll be able to speak passable spanish in the next few months

4. I have no interest in drugs or hookers.

5. I'll probably stay for around 7-10 days, but am open to suggestions if I should stay a bit longer.

6. I'm leaning towards taking this trip in July or August, so the seasons may matter.

My thoughts so far:

Buenos Aires appeals to me because it sounds like a small, clean, walkable european city. I'm told the food is cheap and amazing. I'm not much of a 'club' person though, and from how people have described the coldness of the women there, I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy the nightlife.

Thailand sounds a little sketchier to me, but I really like the idea of the full moon party and similar high-energy events.

If anyone wants to IM me that has been to either of these places (z28dreams on AOL IM), I'd love some other input.

If you're only staying for 10 days, why not do both? I thought this was a decision to live.

I plan on doing both - just deciding which to do first. This has probably been posted a few times, and I could probably google, but what are the best seasons for each?

It's probably good info to have in this thread.

Was just about to post basically the same thing. Coming in to Buenos Aires Thursday for 10 days, travelling by myself. I'd also be down for meeting some 2+2ers and would be interested in meeting up at the Tuesday dinner. Any tips for finding you guys there if it's going on?

I'm 23, Canadian, play MSNL on Party/FTP, and will be going pro in about 2 months.

Hey all, I´m currently in Chile travelling north through Argentina up to Buenos Aires. I might like to get an apartment for a month or two there maybe in May. How easy is this to do, how should I go about doing it?

For those reading this thread who aren't already here, I'd suggest checking out this guy's properties if you're a baller. And being a baller here means paying ...not that much, but will get you a really sick place.

I talked to him for a few hours at the Euro house, and he was a great guy who won't rip you off.

Hey all,

I'm considering making a trip to BsAs sometime in the next 6 months. I don't really have anyone in mind to travel with though, so might just do it myself. I hardly know any spanish though, and have done very little travel, so I'm may struggle a bit. Looking to do 10 days or so.

If anyone else is also planning a trip and might want to share a hotel let me know. I wouldn't mind finding a group to travel with.

Any of you guys have a good experience with this real estate agent: http://www.barts.com.ar/ ?

I am looking for a place to stay for the first month. I guess during that month of stay, i will do better to look for another place for the next months since i don't wanna be stuck to a crappy place that i booked for multiple months w/o having seen it.

The 2+2 dinner tomorrow night is going to be at 9PM at Bereber on 1880 Armenia in Palermo. It's a Moroccan restaurant and it's pretty damn good... trust me.

If you think you're going to come send me a PM so I can have a fair count for the reservation.

Anyone attend the Radiohead concert last night? Odd that a concert sponsored by a brewer would not serve booze.......but a spirited crowd none-the-less.

First show I saw here was the Rolling Stones. I was pretty pissed when I first discovered they didn't serve booze at the event. After being on the floor for the show, I realized I was kind of glad they didn't.
