Re: Moving to Buenos Aires discussion

Hi everyone.
This is Marcos and Nadia. We have some poker friends in BA including LozColbert (the one who started this thread). We also play some poker sometimes.

We'd like to let you guys know that we have a spare room for short term rent in a lovely building Belgrano R.
Find the pics and more info here.
Would be awesome to have a poker pro living with us for some time. We are IT professionals. There is wifi, the spot is gorgeous, super relaxed. Got swimming pool, huge terraza-balcony, BBQ and garden. New bed and blankets, towels etc etc...You will have everything to feel home.

You can call us at 15 3322-5242
or 54911 3322-5242 from outside of Argentina

We apologize if this is a little off-topic.

Good luck at the tables.

Folks, if anyone is looking for a place to watch the super bowl, i'm probably going to head to Casa Bar (Santa Fe y Rodriguez Pena). Game is at 9:30 BA time.

Do you guys have an idea of how hard it would be for a girl from the States to pick up a job waiting tables there?

I think it'd be fairly easy. The expat bars (Drink Gallery, Casa Bar, Alamo) seem to always be hiring expats, since lots of expats come here for just a few months. I've certainly talked to a few who managed to get hired right away even though they were only here for a couple months.

how good is your spanish?

If it's less than an 8 (on a 10 scale) your chances are slim, even at places where tourists go.

Does anyone know a place to watch the Ireland vs. France Rugby match?

Also, if anyone wants to meet up ValarMorghulis and I are going to go out to Plaza Cerrano with some Argentinean friends on Friday.

Yo,

Im having an asado at my house on Saturday. I know there are some new 2+2ers in BA so I figured I might as well post it here. Everyone is welcome, but id like to know how many are coming so please PM me beforehand. That way I can also give you the adress. We will probably get started around 9PM and then go to a bar / club afterwards. Please bring your own wine / beer etc.

/Daniel

It's probably clear from my post, but I would say that I disagree based on my conversations with american female bartenders here. Also, it'll be easier if the girl is pretty. Still, I wouldn't move here thinking it was a 100% possibility of immediately finding work...and even if so, I imagine the pay is miniscule in USD terms.

[I realize this is an old question, but hopefully an answer is still helpful.]

I was concerned about this, too. My solution was to buy an online ticket for the ferry to Montevideo on the Buquebus Web site (http://www.buquebus.com). Then, I kept the ticket printout for proof.

What's nice about this solution is that it's easy to buy online (but you have to use the Spanish version of the site), it's fairly cheap, you'll probably want to visit Montevideo (or Colonia) anyway to renew your 90-day tourist visa, and the tickets are totally changeable if you want to move the dates around once you get here.

Of course, all my preparation turned out to be unnecessary, since no one ever did ask me for proof of follow on travel...

Re: Moving to Buenos Aires discussion

I thank you for your kind invite Setcho.

I still don't know why I was banned. If it was posting a PM threatening violence against me, why wasn't that guy banned? I didn't include his personal information when I posted his PM, and I thought the police might need the PM should I go missing, assisting investigation and all that good stuff.

I turned the other cheek to the violence stuff like a good Christian and gently offered to flip them for rolls instead, and boom ban, post deleted - so I guess *that* was the reason I was banned.

Lots of escort services in Baires. If not interested in that maybe you can take a short drive to Bosques de Palermo

Re: Moving to Buenos Aires discussion

OK, Daniel and Gavin wanted Indian food. So this Tuesday's 9pm dinner club is at Bangalore this week. Humboldt 1416, Palermo Hollywood. Afterwards we'll probably go to Sugar, Unico or Drink Gallery.

Yoyo, you are welcome to come to our dinners. Be normal and friendly (especially to Argentines since this is their country) and it's all good. Probably the only SSNL grinder here is me, and for me it's not personal that you insulted SSNL grinders.

I was a 1/2 LIMIT bonus whore for years. I insulted people who took offence when I made legitimate and completely VALID points.
