Thanks for the advice guys. Yeah the dogs are small so the hunting thing won't work. I've actually been reading online that it's fairly dangerous for dogs to fly on long trips - it's not uncommon for them to die on the plane. So, I think the dogs are going to have to stay home. That'll make things a lot easier.

Im interesting in the desk but might be hard as im not in BA,but we can try.

The desk is in an 'L' shape and is 1.9 meters by 1.55 meters. It is pretty easy to dissemble I think, so moving it shouldnt be that tricky. The room in the picture is around 14 sqm.

oh hey did you play on clay? I'm moving down there and tennis is something I want to keep playing. Any 2p2ers out here that play a lot?

I am pretty good, played juniors, coulda played at a 2nd/3rd tier school if I was healthy. I hit with a pro at this indoor complex in Soho (Costa Rica y Thames), but that got too expensive (like 110 pesos an hour). I would occasionally hit with some expats.

I joined a tournament series where you would play other people of similar skill level and you earn points over the course of a year (Circuito Tenis). It sounded good in theory, but all the matched were a 15-20 minute cab ride for me and the Argie I was scheduled to play wouldn't show up half the time.

There are limited courts within capital. I guess the best option would be to befriend someone living in an apartment complex with courts.

are there not many tennis clubs that I can join? Even upscale is fine. I want to actually play and get better, not just show up expecting to free roll a win 50% of the time.

Dunno what level I would be, amateur for sure . I played high school varsity but A) that doesn't mean anything B) my coach was a dick and a track runner, not a tennis player so I never got better until recently when I started taking lessons.

I explored that option a couple of years ago. Most of the high end clubs you need a one or two member referrals to join. Club Vilas is one of the nicest ones, but the inscription fee was like 10k pesos iirc and another 200 or so a month. I was still on the fence, but I think they said that you have to sign a long term contract (4 years or so) and had to pay the monthly fee even if you have left the country. I think if you had a real job in the city and could use the club for networking it would be +EV, but I just wanted to hit with good players and it wasn't worth it.

To chime in on the tennis clubs...there are much cheaper options. Harrods (http://www.clubharrods.com.ar/cuotas_sociales.php#) is the cheapest I found. GEBA is another option. There is a small initiation fee (<400 pesos) and then you can pay monthly without any minimum contract. The toughest part is finding a regular hitting partner to join with you.

I'm gone for the Winter, but will be back probably around sept...always looking for people to hit with. I'm also a 4.0 player.

Harrods is nice, I play basketball there sometimes, its in the middle of Belgrano and very accessable

There are a few tennis places around the city. I play at salguero tenis, its just near the paseo alcorta. They have 4 or 5 courts I think and only take bookings on the day you play but once you call in the morning you can always get a court at the time you want. I had never played on a clay court until I came here so I can't comment on the quality of the courts.
Also I played at one in palermo on costa rica, which was indoor, but seemed decent enough though I much prefer outdoor.
