Plaza Italia is closer, if you pick the right exit from the station you're a half block from Gurruchaga. (Walk along the platform in the direction of the trains going to Catedral, up the stairs/escalator to the turnstiles/ticket stand area, then right, then take the stairs going left instead of the escalator going right, and Gurruchaga should be right in front of you.)

Quick intro: My name is Mike and HU Pokers up to 25/50nl and 10/20plo were my main games before some of us over here lost our job I've done a lot of traveling around (SE)Asia, Australia, and New Zealand so if I come out here, this'll be my first trip to SA to a western world outside of the U.S. The purpose of my trip is to scope out SA for a new place to live! It's between SA and Spain as I'd like to re-learn Spanish again, however Brazil is not out of the equation. I'm going to stay until probably June, and if I love it or if the WSOP action is stale, then I'll probably just stay for awhile.

Banking - seems like it's pretty complicated here. Would I be stupid in expecting to get one out here that I can use for euro sites and to send money to u.s. banks?

Housing - do you guys have any websites I can use to find upscale apartments/condos? I'm used to paying up to 2k/month and seeing as how the prices here are just loltiny, I'm pretty psyched at seeing what living is going to be like.

Are any online poker sites blocked?

Roughly how many 2p2ers are still in BA or Argentina?

Brazil - I figure I should see Brazil before I go back, however U.S. Citizens need to get hold of a Visa before entering. Can I get this in BA or must I get one while I'm still in the States?

Banking is complicated. I'm expecting that I'll be able to get a bank account but I'm not sure about how many hoops I will have jumped through to get there... apparently sometimes a bank will let you open an account without DNI (national ID) but they aren't supposed to.

Housing - www.bytargentina.com do an advanced search to narrow it down by neighborhood, etc

you can play on all the euro sites from BA, it's not an issue.

Even when you get a bank, it is extremely hard to get transfers from e-wallets or sites to your account. I've known of no person who has ever done it except for myself.

It took nearly two months of haggling to receive one. Neither the e-wallet or the bank knew really what to do. There was a bit of paper work and signatures needed. There are all these established codes about how to identify where the money came from that didn't seem to apply to poker. Furthermore, the bank said it didn't want to accept the transfer due to possible money laundering and what not. It took a call from a lawyer friend before it appeared in my account. I guess a favor was done with the idea that they would accept it, just this time. I never tried again.

I can't remember if it was an overall % vig or if it was a % of the transfer plus a flat fee but with exchanges and charges, I think about 8% of the transfer was taken from me. Pretty steep!

If your idea is to do transfers from your sites or e-wallets to a bank in Bs.As, then to a bank in the US... I´d consider you a sadist. It was a pain in the ass to get the money in Argentina. The Argentine Central Bank REALLY doesn´t like money leaving the country. Olvidalo....

Argentine friends that play poker usually get a neteller ATM card and then get their money from ATMs. Other than that, I don't know of any legitimate ways of how they get poker money. It might be helpful that people here inform others how they go about doing it ITT.

Well, after discovering this thread , the task of sifting through its entirety has finally been completed (only a day and a half later). Almost every problem one could encounter in Buenos Aires has been examined, dissected, and solved through simple explanations or entertaining anecdotal evidence. The wealth of information here is staggering. My previous inquiries have nearly all been answered, except in regards to the availability of bananas (ha!).
But I digress. I will be in BsAs in the end of May for about a month studying at the University of Belgrano. I'll be finishing up my Bachelor's in Spanish, and am fluent in the language and know more than enough Portuguese to get me by. Based on my experience in BA I may decide to pursue my Master's there over Madrid. I play online some (Full Tilt US is shut down), but definitely prefer live cash games. (SSNL) From what I've read, the only consistent cash game in the city is at the PM Casino, with a fairly high rake. While enticing, I was wondering if there were any in home games going on during the winter? Also, would very much appreciate someone familiar with the city to show myself and a female colleague around upon arrival.

I don't know but probably going to its site or looking around the IG forum will answer your question. I just know the rules for neteller are different for the rest of the world than they are for Americans. I haven't used it since they shut us out 4 years ago.

I have not talked about the subject in awhile. I just know that is how some Argentines got their poker money in the past. I'm not sure if that is how they still do it but I assumed they did.

What are your plans for cashing out if the sites refuse to send to US banks anymore?

Your website has prices wrong. 120 pesos is 30 usd. The rent prices listed are a bit misleading since only unfurnished, long-term rentals will be available for 400 usd and most will be more. The people reading the page will probably be expecting the price listed for furnished rentals. Also it's also worth noting in the visa section that the government has no objection to foreigners staying indefinitely without any type of residency visa.
