If anyone is interested in a random act of kindness, consider giving blood. A friend of a friend has a kid who was diagnosed with acute leukemia, and because the kid needs lots of blood transfusions, they are way behind. Obviously, they're looking for donors.

The kids' hospital is in somewhere in the Barrio Norte area. You won't get anything in return, but if you're interested i'll PM you the details. If you're worried about your Spanish, I'll go with you.

All this stuff about creamfields......
If the festival was actually awesome enough you shouldn't need drugs to enjoy it. I mean have you not experienced the natural highs obtainable from just seeing and listening to amazing music?
All IMO I guess

I've been to some festivals while sober, and my 2 favorite live shows of all time (Daft Punk and Muse) were both sober (apart from a red bull). I think your thinking is flawed, in that, drugs allow me to focus on the music and the atmosphere more. It allows me to be completely zoned into my surroundings, almost like becoming a kid again. The experiences and sensations you get are different to being sober, which are stuff you feel all the time. Like I said, its being a kid again and puts you into the zone where you can just truly appreciate the basics of life. Not too much the bonding you can do; its like alcohol on steroids.

Its just a tool designed to improve something that is already good. I can't think of a single person who has regretted rolling, especially at a festival (although I can think of people who didn't care for it, but they never had a negative experience), and I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone anywhere who took a pill in the right environment and didn't understand. To put it another way, I laugh at people who have the 'drugs are for losers' mantra, but then think consuming 1000 pints of lager is the best most enlightening thing in the world. Uhh, ok.

is BA near any beaches? not looking for a world class beach or anything, but somewhere to float around during the day would be nice.

Yeah not really. Mar del Plata is the closest decent beach.

So your two favourite shows were while you were sober yet you believe drugs make things better. Why didn't you not take drugs there then? Seems like you lost out.

Lol is this a joke? I think you'll find a lot of people who didn't enjoy it, just maybe not in your circle of friends. Also you will be able to find people who didn't like taking pills after they almost od'd or something (this is obviously taking it to extremes but it happens, and people have died from taking 'e' and other drugs in general so its a non 0% risk being taken)

Those people are generally referred to as ******s. I certainly don't take that viewpoint. Whilst I will drink alcohol socially, I certainly won't go nuts and drink til I can't spell my own name. I just can't be arsed with pretty much any other drug as I don't believe the benefits outweigh any possible negatives (I believe the same with binging on alcohol I guess). This is all IMO again.

Overall we just have differing viewpoints on the benefits of drugs, so mneh.

It definitely would have made them different shows to be at, although the main memories probably would have been the same. Taking something reasonable shouldn't change a whole lot at the core, same with drinking alcohol. Its the little things that change.

Yeah for sure, some people don't enjoy it, just not a 'bad experience', which is when you feel like dying or something. You can't die from e or even get close to dying, it just doesn't work like that, which is why I said you can't have a bad experience. My girlfriend doesn't enjoy e, so there's certainly people who don't like it at all, but I doubt she regrets taking it. If you do die from taking e, the only way I see its possible is if your pill was pressed with meth, you took way too many, and had a heart condition. I'm serious when I say that's the only way. Just how the drugs designed, you can't OD on it. Bad pills are a huge issue though and I'm a huge nit when it comes to what I take, I won't risk anything, always stuff from good sources that has been checked out and verified. This isn't as much for safety as it is to make sure I have a good time, getting a meth bomb that doesn't do anything is annoying.

I think if you researched it, you'd find the risk is very very small, particularly with the soft drugs, where I'd say it approaches nil barring some wild crazy factor like if you had a hole in your heart or some kind of disease or something (soft drugs being marijuana, e, and acid). Anyway, this is a huuuuuuuge derail, back to regular BsAs talk

So looks like I'm going to gamble-face and set up a lease for a 3 bedroom place from Jan 7th - April 6th even though there are currently only 2 of us. We need a third and if anyone is interested during that time, let me know. The place is ridic sick and we'll probably be having around two parties per month there so you have to be ok with this. It'll be a good way for you to meet people though. Anyway, rent is just under $2k per month per person.

I don't want to post pics since I don't want this place sniped from us, but I'll do it after we get the place confirmed.

It's located in the heart of Palermo Soho, 6 blocks from Plaza Serrano, where all the really good restaurants and bars are located. The place is 2,000 sq ft + a 1,000 sq ft rooftop terrace. The entire place is completely remodeled and looks very up to date though it incorporates the red brick walls in places. The terrace has also been completely redone and looks sick.

The place has 3 bedrooms + 2 1/2 bathrooms + modern kitchen + dining room + living room + screening room with projector + office. All bedrooms have king beds. All furnishings in this place are super modern. The rooftop terrace has a heated pool / jacuzzi, parilla, built in bar with stool seating, and a 6 person dining table. Both the place and the terrace are incredibly large and have plenty of space to move around.

If you are interested or know anyone interested let me know. I'll be down in BsAs this next week if you want to meet up before committing. It goes to the first person willing to put their deposit down. I can be vouched for by many people in BsAs. coxquinn is the other roommate. We are chill people and if you aren't a big douchebag or anything we'll get along fine.

I don't hate "electronic music". In fact I'm a DJ since 1999, and I produced tracks for some record labels, etc.

I like a lot better to go to a nightclub/party and listen to one good DJ for 4 hours surrounded by 100 or 2000 other people, rather than gathering with another 80.000 (most of them are not really into the music) to listen to 15 1hr DJ sets. Not only the sets are ridic short, but the enviroment sucks because there's no possible feedback between the DJ and such big crowds.

RiverPlay,

I've been a DJ for 11 years as well, but I'm going to have to disagree here.

First of all, I've never seen a DJ of any quality do a 4 hour set. It's just cost prohibitive for places to pay a quality DJ for 4 hours and frankly if you've ever DJ'd in a club you understand that 4 hours of it is incredibly taxing. Maybe the opening DJ getting paid crap might go for a while, but never the main attraction.

Second, while I agree that the atmosphere wrt feedback from the crowd isn't there as much, I disagree that the crowd isn't in to the music. Also, your crowd size is off. While there might be 80-100,00 people at the festival, there are also 10 different stages/tents set up.

And most importantly, the DJs that come to a Creamfields like event are just phenomenal. And it's more than just DJs, you have groups like Unkle coming or LCD Soundsystem last year. You don't see acts of this caliber in your average night club.

Apparently, it's not for everyone. But I had a blast last year.

The thing about festivals is, everyone has the same mindset. Its awesome, you unleash your inner party and everyone supports it. So much random stuff happens, just the vibe is something you can't get anywhere else. Opinion etc.

I agree though that some djs play better sets outside of festivals. A purist might not do festivals because sideshows sound a lot better. I agree. But I think a gig is more than just the music being played, its about the atmosphere blah blah blah. Each to their own.

don't know much about rent prices but $2000/person sounds like a LOT (I've been living in Palermo Soho for 13 years). Are you renting this from one of those sites that rent apartments to foreigners?

If you want to check another option my best friend owns a real estate agency (inmobiliaria) in Palermo. If you want the number PM me.

Seems like we are 99% good on the baller place so I'm posting some images of it now. Should be good times.

Also, this whole thing has made me realize I need to really buy a place out in BA. So plan is to save up the $500k cash necessary to buy/remodel a really nice place and do that by Mid-2010 assuming I don't end up hating BsAs when moving back (seems really unlikely). Any tips from people who have purchased property in BA? I have one friend that has so I'll be asking him some questions when I go visit for sure.

Yeah, non-residents can buy here no problem.

If you don't have a DNI however, you essentially have no rights should any problems arise.

Property Taxes - run at 1.5% p.a as I recall, and it's left for you to pay them voluntarily. You'll have problems when it comes to sell if they aren't paid.
