Reg and I are having a party on Friday night around 10pm. All 2+2 'ers are invited, and if you have hot single female friends, bring them too. Shoot me a PM for the address

I've been reading a lot of people have problems cashing out. I know a guy in Buenos Aires who will exchange Neteller / Pokerstars cash for USD or pesos without any fees, and he'll deliver the money to your home if you want. You can do the transaction once you've got the money, too. It seems he charges a fee to help casual players deposit, but he needs more money online than he can safely deposit himself.

I don't work with him but I definitely trust the guy.

If anyone wants his contact info, pm me.

And no, I don't have any profit share in referring people to him. I'm just being nice

Anyone know where to get Boca River tickets? I'm looking for 5. The booth at the stadium wouldn't sell me that many.

There is always Mercado Libre. Not saying they are the best deals but they are there:

Also there was a guy saying he was selling tickets at one of the Futbol 5 fields I was playing at the other day. I think I have his little stub thing somewhere. If I find it I'll post.

Last time I tried to use despegar.com (over a year ago) they wouldn't accept any 'foreign' credit cards. They wanted me to deposit 3500 pesos cash into a bank account then wait 2-3 days for the tickets to arrive via snail-mail. I passed.

If anyone can update if this has changed, or was a one off I'd be grateful.

There is currently a 50% chance I move back in January. Need to think this through some more.

Hi all! I'm a local regular mid stakes player, and I just found this thread randomly, while procrastinating in the Zoo. I read through the whole thing and, as a "porteño", I have to say it's pure gold. Off the top of my head comments:

* Kudos on your restaurant selection skills guys: I'm glad to see you make good use of Guía Óleo. You're still missing several (several) gems, but you have plenty of time. I'll definitely join you some day or other.

* Personally, I think there's way too much noise/discussion on the girls/cavernícolas issue. I do have to admit, however, that Zarathustra's analysis of the subject is impeccable.

* I'll be happy to chip in with whatever you guys need, so I'll check this thread habitually.

Cheers!

PS: if any of the americans miss their cupcakes, I'm the guy to PM.

I just arrived in Buenos Aires a few days ago. Is the Tuesday night dining club still going on?

Also, I don't really know many people in BsAs, so if you would like to meet up and hang out, PM me.

Ensename, senor. Seriously, what are your favorite restaurants that we're missing?

alright, sorry for the delay. We'll try Lotus Neo Thai in Las Canitas. I have left them a message and sent them an email about a reservation and haven't heard back, so if they cannot accommodate us, then we will just have try one of the other hundreds of places in Canitas. Tuesday 9:00

First off, there's such an overabundance of restaurants in this city that it's pragmatically impossible to have been to even half of the best ones, unless you're some serious league millonaire. So just as you, my knowledge is fairly incomplete.

That being said, I'll give you tiny installments of my favourites so you can check'em out. Today:

* La Vinería de Gualterio Bolivar

A little restaurant in San Telmo with Bulli-stlye dishes and a masterfully concocted wine menu. The best way to go about it is order the fixed menu (some 9 small dishes in succession) and surrender the wine choice to the sommelier/waiter. It'll be rather expensive in Buenos Aires terms ($150 or so), but definitely worth a try.

Cheers!

Curious... how many 2+2ers currently live in Argentina (estimate)?

I remember when I moved there were 3 others (one of which was Argentine). Just curious to see the population expansion in two years.

Also: This Tuesday night dinner fun time would interfere with my regularly scheduled Tuesday night football match (that both Boquense, Chairman Wood, and possibly others play in) if I move back. This is a concern and something that should be rectified somehow. Why was Tuesday chosen over other days of the week? Sunday is obviously Boca day and Fri/Sat people want to do real things, but what was wrong with Mon/Wed/Thurs?

Have you considering compiling a list of the restaurants the group has visited along with their general reactions to them? Would be really awesome to have one that you could update in this thread. You guys seem to go to a few restaurants I've never even heard of so I'd love some follow up on how they were.

I would say about 20 foreign online poker players live in Argentina. Some poker players are not 2+2ers (I have never posted in a strategy forum) and some 2+2ers aren't really poker players.

Fri/Sat/Sun are out for obvious reasons. Thursday is almost as busy as the weekend, so it can be hard getting reservations. A lot of places are closed on Monday, so that is out. I don't have anything against Wed, though Tuesday is a slower eating out night, hence better for our purposes. It is also possible that other people might have conflicting obligations on Wed.

Evan (lozcolbert) will be taking over the helm in a couple weeks when I go on vacation, so I will let him sort that out.

A list should be pretty easy to compile, as it is all in this thread. I would say my favorites have been Duvall and Rio Alba .
