We will be heading to Uruguay for World Cup qualifying on 20th then LAPT in Punte Del Este for a few days.

Sapol has graciously offered to be a tour guide/concierge for us but any suggestions of things we should definitely check out during our short 3-4 days there please DM me or post in this thread. We don't have a lot of time there. We are into good food and fun times(partying) but are a bit concerned about our Spanish.

We'd love to get together with any ex-pats, locals who speak english or poker people while we're in town.

Also any tips on travelling to Argentina re:would be great.

1) things to be sure we bring
2) info on Reciprocity Fee
3) Blue Market Currency exchange
1) Any money you plan on spending, bring cash USD
2)http://www.argentinaindependent.com/...city-fee-visa/
You will need to have some kind of "receipt" before you even check-in for your flight here.
3)http://www.dolarblue.net/
The price you will be exchanging your dollars at should be about the price quoted in green as "compra"

I am coming to BA for the Latin American Bitcoin Conference Dec 7-8th. I have a 30" monitor laying around that I don't use. How much can I sell it for there if I bring it?

What's the brand, age, resolution, and condition? I'd be interested in buying it from you depending on these things.

2010 Dell. 2560x1600. Used for 1.5 years. Then I quit using it in favor of small 22" that were easier to travel with, and it has sat unused for over two years. Brightness and color seems fine, not at all like some of these people's monitors I see where they are all dim and yellow. Maybe I can fire it up and take a video or pic. If someone could just give me a ballpark on what range these sell for in BA, that would be good.

Last time I checked, 65/100 posts in HSNL xfer thread involved bitcoin, so apparently it is working

Yes, that's because that's where posts regarding bitcoin belong.

The problem with pricing it is that they literally can't be found here, the biggest I've ever found was a 27" on mercadolibre, most people just bring them with them. I'll give you 700 dollars for it (assuming it's in the condition you say), any more than that and I'll just wait until I go home in a month and buy a new one.

I'm thinking of going to Buenos Aries next week and possibly staying there for a while. Does anyone know of a nice area in the city with a language school, gym and good restaurants/bars?

bumptime~

does anyone have experience sending things to Argentina? i've heard numerous times that customs there are like a mafia and charge ridiculous rates for anyone to receive anything of value. i wouldn't be sending anything fancy (partly because of their customs), just a book and some photos/postcards.

if i send the above stuff is it likely to get through fine without charging the receiver anything?

Yeah should be fine as long as it's nothing of real value. might take a month or more though. And waiting to pick it up is a several hour process

For something fancy you'll need a despachante de aduana. Basically anything you order right now is a pain in the ass to get.

This was the biggest laugh I've had in quite awhile. If you've only met conservative girls in Bs As, you've either only been in town for 30 min, or you haven't gone out to any bar/club/party anywhere in the city.

Enjoy your time, it's a great place to live
