Osaka is supposed to v good

For those of you who moved here and became fluent or really good at Spanish, are you A) able to understand what portenos are saying to each other B) HOW DO I GET THAT GOOD?

I do pretty well in a 1on1 conversation but once they start talking to each other, forget it, I can't understand what's going on.

Not to my knowledge... They're a pretty rare thing even in the US as far as going into a retail store. I've looked relatively hard for one since one of mine blew out in a power surge and have had no luck.

It's generally vv good, but not the best in town imo. Chuleton de ojo de bife in El Estrebe I think is one of the best restaurant steaks I've had here.
Mirasol is excellent too.
Chairman Wood cooks better steaks than you will find in any restaurant though!
Cabrera is still worth the visit though. It won't let you down.

Sarkis was pretty good, had a rice w/chicken dish that was massive and lamb kafka or something like that. I'm pretty curious about the entire menu.

Anyway I'm thinking Cabrera like this Thurs night.

La Cabrera: it is awesome but I think it depends on who is in the kitchen. There have been nights where I thought it was the most amazing thing I ever tasted and others where it was just ok. I don't think there is anyway of knowing, just got to roll the dice.

I like el estrebe a lot too and it is way less of a hassle to go there than La Cabrera.

I don't make or buy any steak rub. The most I do is put some salt and pepper on it. If you are interested, there is a cooking a good steak thread in OOT that I´ve been following since its inception. There is a lot of good stuff in there. I've also had lots of conversations with Imakefrush. The man knows more about meat then anyone I've ever met.

I get my meats usually at Coto and always buy the vacuum packed line. You might have an Argie friend insist that some butcher he knows is way better and all and I'm sure that in a lot of cases it is true. However that can be very hit or miss. You at least always know that with the vacuum packed ones at Coto that it is always going to be good.

Definitely give them a call, from what I remember they don't take reservations after eight or nine p.m., at which point you'll be waiting for a while before getting seated.
Going there in the off hours is also a good option for poker players with no set schedule. I think their kitchen's opened until like one or half past one.

Been there a dozen times, Chairman Wood's opinion of the place is spot on.

Like myself you´re probably "better" in 1-1 conversation even in your native language and prefer that over big group talk where 20 ppl speak at the same time.

Most poker players actually, since we got the trait of being able to focus solely on one thing for long period of time.
On the negative side, you´ll face trouble when the opposite happens.

Its all practise, and while you´ll probably understand things better when reading, other people pick up faster on convos

Does anyone know of specific bank branches that will allow US people to open accounts? I have certificado de domicilo and my CDI etc, but all the branches I have gone to thus far refuse to open an account for me.

Krmont. Go to banco nacion on corrientes and acevedo. They let me open one yesterday.

FYI, you need both the CDI and CD. Despite the fact that you need to give them the CD to open the CDI (and they don't give it back) so I had to have the police come a second time to give me a new one.

Does anyone know a good place around Palermo or Villa Crespo that has a scanner to use? I need to scan some documents for verification purposes, but can't seem to find a good place to scan.

I was hoping this was not the case. I can not believe how stupid their system is.

As I have done more extensive research, it seems that to withdraw money from Stars to my BA account and then wire it to another account and/or get actual cash is impossible...is this correct? If so, how does anyone cash out?
