Is it possible to buy these monitors in BA? Do they cost an absurd amount?
If they're clearly used, its your first time to Argentina, and you say they're for some design course you're doing in BA (or some dumb excuse, praetor said he needed his for world of warcraft, heh), you'll be fine. You may have problems if they're brand new and boxed. In the suitcase, stand alone, and clearly over a year old, I doubt you'll have a problem.
Anyone have any suggestions for a good walk I can do in an afternoon (i.e. a few hours) that will give me a decent sense of the city and a few of the various barrios? Gonna be here for a few months, and feel like I don't really have a sense of a city until I've explored it walking, but I don't really know where to start with BA. Thanks!
yellow bus tour is all you need for this. has 15 stops and takes a few hours to loop, will show you all the diversity through the gringo barrios.

also.. any ba locals that could fill me in on where there are public basketball courts? i have heard from people that they do exist, but have yet to come across any. once the weather gets warmer, def trying to ball with the argentines, scout the next ginobili, etc.

As for cashing out there is three ways I know Argentinians do this and really none of them are good for foreigners.
-Neteller- Impossible for foreigners without a DNI. Possible to get a DNI through marriage I believe.
-Click2Pay- This is a long-shot for foreigners but if you ran really awesome and somehow got a Visa or Mastercard from your bank (most likely you will get some POS like a Maestro card that's useless for anything poker related) then I believe it might be possible to get a Click2Pay ATM card. I'm not sure if you need a DNI or not for this. Most likely you do need one.
-Site transfer- I know there are people who you can transfer to that will deliver you cash. Usually it's 2k or greater amounts. Same thing happens in Brazil and other LA countries. I don't know anyone personally and there is obviously the chance of getting scammed for a bunch of money. You could also befriend some Euro and pay them a vig or something.

sick, ukash works out here. If you care to elaborate, do you know how to set ukash up so I can withdraw to it online? Perhaps I have a way to cash out of UB after all (can't do a check and ukash is the only option they give me)
One of my friends cashed out from UB with Ukash and he gave the code to an Argentinian player who deposited it on stars then transferred it back to him. All Ukash is is a 17 digit code so it doesn't really matter who uses it. Supposedly ukash is coming out with an ATM card but the only site that offers Ukash as a withdrawal option is UB right now that I know of.
Ya, check the website it will give you all the locations. I think the Retiro place is the closest to like Palermo/Recoleta than all the other places though.

Fast, reliable, cheap(compared to Scandinavia at least). If you need more info there are plenty of posts in this thread talking about the quality of Argentinian internet providers.
