After reading some, it seems like getting a bank account in Argentina is a pain in the ass. I also saw that it's very easy to set up a Canadian bank account as a foreigner. Do a lot of people set up a Canadian (don't need to be a citizen) and cash out from stars/ftp to there, while living in BA? Any problems with this I'm overlooking?

Not sure if this is a problem for you or not but I think Soah said you need to be registered in the country that you make the withdrawals to. So if you have a Canadian bank account you would also need a Canadian address that your Stars or FTP is registered to. Once that is set up it shouldn't be a problem coming to Argentina and playing from here.

That's what Stars told me in an email. I'm not entirely certain that this person was correct, nor do I have any information about FTP's policies.

Hey guys, I can't believe I didnt think to chase this thread down on 2+2 earlier. I'm an Australian currently living in Buenos Aires (Microcentro) with my peruvian gf. I've only just started playing poker roughly 2-3 months ago so I'm still at the micro-micro stakes but since we are travelling together until march or so next year I want to improve my game a lot.

Do you guys have weekly/monthly get togethers etc? Mi espanol esta mejorando entonces puedo hablar en espanol o ingles.

Also my gf and I are living in the microcentro until July 4th and after that we are chasing an apartment for a month. If anyone will be holidaying here or is after two easy going, clean and fun roommates definitely shoot me a message. Ideally if there are any poker houses that also need someone to take a room off their hands it would be awesome.

I definitely recommend her. She picked out an amazing place for me via email as she was on vacation this week and her service is a level above what you will get in Buenos Aires.

did the "BA Free Tour" last night through Retiro and Recoleta and it was a lot of fun and very informative. This one was the afternoon "Aristrocratic" tour throughout the two neighborhoods and I highly recommend it. They operate off of tips and our tour-gude, "Gastone" sp? was funny and insightful. Definitely learned a lot. Their website is full of fun things to do/going on in the city. Meeting place for the pm tour was in front of the main statue in Plaza San Martin at the interesection of Sante Fe & Maipu...

Coincidentally, there was also a big shrine set up in the park with a ton of people paying their respects... It wasn't until I saw a 3 year old walking dressed like Michael Jackson did I realize who it was for... They love their MJ here!

Bumping this thread back up to the top with a recommendation for the greatest (IMO) heladeria (really gelato) in the city..

Arkakaó Cafe, located on 188 Quintana in Recoleta, cross-street of Montevideo.

Been going a little too frequently and getting a quart??? to go for about 22 pesos. 3 flavors, highly recco the dulce de leche, chocolate with orange.

Great to first make a stop here and then walk down Quintana towards the cemetery or through the flea-market that happens nearby.

Hi Guys! Low stakes PLO / MTT grinder here. Thinking about moving to BA in Sept for at least a few months then taking it from there. Would love to have a room-mate for that mutual motivation, education, and of course FUN ASS TIME.

Hit me up if you are already there and looking or would be going around the same time. I. Am. Canadian.

If "ass time" isn't fun, you're doing it wrong. And welcome to the forums.
