Well your abilities to make reasonable conjectures are some serious fails. You want to make conclusions about how I behave and claim I am a pedophile after I make a hyperbolic post in an attempt to be humorous and make a few obviously sarcastic replies on the internet? That is just downright stupid.

Quote:
What is pretty clear is that in general attractive women don't often wear particularly sexy or skin revealing outfits on the street or bars and clubs of BsAs. Their social behavior is also very toned down sexually relative to women of other countries.
It is not "pretty clear," this is why certain people disagree with you. This has already been explained. Quit making sweeping statements like you know it all and your conclusions are the set in stone right answer.

Quote:
It is to the point that they are conditioned to not make eye contact because it might stir the beast that is on his toes ready to attack. Portenas know that given how aggressively the men behave, showing a lot of skin will be perceived as giving a green light to be harassed. A small few can't get enough attention and dress that way anyway and they are usually far from the most attractive.
ArturiusX already answered this. I've never been in a culture that made more eye contact. As per the second part about there being an inverse correlation between more revealing clothing and beauty, I'll just have to disagree. But this is just one man's observations. Jesus, people even have different ideas of what is revealing clothing. You really like to take one observation and run with it don't you?

Quote:
The only reason I brought it up is because you were implying that at the public pool you and/or others were ogling and/or accosting under aged girls who were forced to show some skin to get in the water. Poor argie girls, not even adults and already getting drooled on/put on a pedestal/turned passive.
You were the one to imply those things. Again, don't put words into my mouth or make up actions that I did. You also have a really bizarre way of looking at things, "forced to show some skin just to get in the water." I don't recall seeing that sign at the pool. For what its worth, there were women there with some very unrevealing choices for swimwear.

Quote:
At the beach...o realmente? Come on now, unless you were handing out surveys you woulndn't easily be able to distinguish between a portena and non-portena? It is very common for brazilian girls to wear thongs and to vacation in Argentina. It is not at all common for portenas to wear thongs. I never meant to derail this so much from the pool comments, but apparently you refuse to address them.
ArturiusX already explained that it is quite easy to tell Argies from non-Argies and I would say that my spidey sense (combination of appearance, mannerisms, tone and accent) can often tell if someone is from Buenos Aires or from another part of Argentina. But even if you were to ignore my intuition on these matters, you can't escape the fact that in Mar del Plata and other beach cities/villages on the coast that most (and by a clear margin) tourists are there from Buenos Aires. At these beaches, and other beaches on the banks of rivers in Argentina it is very common that girls where thongs. It is quite clear that you have never been to any of these places. Furthermore, to claim that all these thong wearers could be made up of Brazilians is just silly. About 3-4 times per year I make a trip to Pinamar, Mardel, Colon de entre rios or one of several summer beach destinations and I've never once heard someone speak Portuguese there. Sure, Brazilians are all over Argentina but the beaches here aren't really hotspots for them. They have much better beaches in Brazil. Lastly, you could even go to the aforementioned public pool in Buenos Aires and see that my claim is true. I hope you could accept the assumption that most of the people that go there are porteños. Are you in Argentina (I'm almost doubting you've ever been here)? Just turn on Cronica at various points during the day.

I won't address my comments about the girls, adoption and the pool because they were meant to be taken as literally as your comments about Argentine men having testicles in their skulls. I believe you're smart enough to figure that out (if not oh dear). So why are you trying to pick a fight with me?

What is the age of consent here anyway? Assume 16, but girls seem to celebrate their 15th bday as 'coming of age'.

MEC and I have logged thousands of hours going out between the two of us in Capital and hit on countless Argentine girls. We were both successful in dating and hooking up with dozens of Porteñas and we are both on the same page that the most attractive ones are very passive, infrequently sustain eye contact (getting looks is different), plenty of work to escalate, and are often like hitting on a brick wall even when they are interested. Don't plan on grinding with the average Porteña, I don't think she could if she wanted to. Plenty of foreigners living in Capital long term are also in agreement. When you visit a new country and go out every night for long hours your perception about how much attention you are getting relative to home is easily skewed (it was for us at first), especially when you are a huge ogre of an Australian.

Any of you lads play in the lapt punta del este last year? Got a deal on a package so gonna go play it this year. Anyone know what kind of side events they have? Have a friend who is interested in tagging along if they have some small tournaments in the range of $200-$500 maybe

I havnt been, but i went to the lapt mar del plata last year and i think there was only the side event plus a lot of satelites for the main event that they were all of 500$ buy in i think,MTT and 10 players sit and goes.
But the punta del este lapt is cheaper,so the satelites will be cheaper

Hey all,

I just arrived in Buenos Aires, and I've been hanging out in Recoleta. The place is amazing, and though I speak little Spanish, I've been picking it up quickly. Having read the last couple of pages of this massive thread, I've two questions: first, are you guys having another outing some time soon? And second -- I'm seeking a hook up of that greener stuff, if that's possible (just PM me). Gracias!

Thanks for that. I might call up wherever its being held and see what they say; and if they know anything.

If you don't think american college girls on average dress even somewhat more sexually than argentine girls you are laying the cards on the table that you have no idea what you are talking about or are comparing argies exclusively to the geeks at rice. I am on board to end discussion on style because it seems that some people think jeans, converse shoes and a loose fitting blouse that drapes over said jeans constitutes as style. Youngish portenas practically have a uniform that also comes with two options for hair, leggo-man bangs or swept to the side. Every other time I went to the grocery store I had a scare that I thought I saw one of the girls I had hooked up with.

Quote:
And ABC, lol as to Portenas not loving loving loving attention in all forms at all hours. La cultura Portena is to put girls on a pedestal from the moment they are born.
And portenas are addicted to attention, but that doesn't mean the most attractive ones don't get jaded and fed up with it. My ex had to give up going to the weight section of her gym because the super aggro portenos would incessantly harass her about going on a date. The more attractive girls are stressed by it and forced to have a constant guard up. If you are passing through a BsAs club and an attractive girl doesn't know what you look like yet she is probably much more apprehensive about looking up to make eye contact than other SA countries where girls warmly stare at everyone with no fear and will often lock eyes or do a 180 rut-row if they like what they see).

A fair share of portenas get addicted to attention because of the big doses they are accustomed to and will goad it on with stares or other insincere games. I've known plenty of guys who have made out with or gotten led on the entire night by girls with no sincere interest because they end up having boyfriends and clearly just wanted the attention. I have talked to plenty of portenas who acknowledge that these ridiculous antics are completely standard behavior.

Arturius,

How many or what percentage of those girls that were shamelessly staring were you able to take home and bang? I don't doubt that some were interested, but a good number of portenas that lack self confidence or are on an attention drought love to have guys approach and shower them with attention all to eventually shoot them down and high five their fat friends for not giving the guy any action. There is seriously a social disease in BsAs that gets old fast, especially if you are single and relying on bars and clubs to meet girls.

My overall conclusion about eye contact in BsAs is that its existence or lack thereof can be deceiving in reading the level of genuine interest in hooking up, especially relative to other countries where it seems much more indicative. Plenty of starers are on the prowl for attention more than anything else. Furthermore, there are plenty of girls that want you to talk to them but habitually avoid eye contact in general to discourage unsolicited molestation from aggressive guys. If the average guy waits for good eye contact as a green light to approach in Argentina he will seldom get laid if at all.

Obviously I do, because I think the idiosyncrasies of the social culture are interesting (even if tilting at times) and can reveal a lot about human psychology. I also imagine the people posting in (dis)agreement probably care at least a little bit.

Just going to respond to what you said to me;

I don't see what this has to do with anything. If you can't pick up a girl for a one night stand, then the staring means nothing? I don't see your point at all. Everything you wrote reeks of paranoia and angst, yeah I'm sure that Senorita Portena is rejecting you just to appear cool to her friends.

Here's the deal, if a girl likes you, she will stare at you, maybe not as intensely or as long as other countries, but the hint will exist. If she doesn't like you, she will go out of her way not to send you the wrong message. There's no 'being polite' to a guy trying to hit on her, that's very true, and sometimes this makes it hard to tell if you're making progress, but whatever, if you have any semblance of self esteem this is pretty easy to deal with.

I've hung out with random Argie girls and had a lot of fun without hook ups. I went back to some medical college girls dorm room and smoked dope with some girls and one of their boyfriends. I went back to some girls house with about 3 other girls and we got even drunker and I eventually passed out on her couch. I went to a party or two and the girls were very friendly and I never felt like there was this huge wall between me and an Argie girl. Maybe the difference is that I'm not an aggressive "I am clearly hitting on you right now how do you like that?" approacher, more casual, more joking around and I can usual make people pretty relaxed to hang out with me. As long as your foreign and have this attitude, argie girls will let down their guard and have fun. some of them are pretty cool. And then you make friends with them, meet their friends whom they give a good reference about you to, and rinse repeat.

You won't be banging Argie girls for one night stands. Its possible but its probably better not to set the bar that high. One nighters are overrated anyway. The way to play argie girls is to work on a contact list, have a large rotation, and once they get to know you for a little while you will get in. This requires more effort than going to a bar every Friday night but it shouldn't be too difficult, as long as you're seen as a chill person who they're at least somewhat into sexually. All your posts seem to revolve around the bar scene, if thats the only time you ever meet/talk to argie girls, then of course you'll have a super negative opinion.

I don't know if not speaking Spanish would impede you but a friend of mine works with this organization and really likes it and thinks it is worthy of his time.

Hey!

Well if you want to volunteer with animals, cats and dogs more precisely, here's the link to Protectora de animales Sarmiento.
Its the official animal protection association here.
Even if you can go 2 hours a week 1 day a week or if you want more hours, its ok. Let me know if you're interested so I can ask whens the best time fo you or anyone to drop by.
The dos need someone that will take them for a walk sometime, the cats someone who can hold them, clean their cages, just play with them, you decide what you want. I doubt that anyone will want the cleaning part, but oh well.
