Degen is short for degenerate and the meaning has no obligatory connection to gambling.

It is still somewhat unsettling that you still have not denied having pedophilic ideation at the public pool. Naturally there are going to be scantily clad underage girls at a pool and I can't make the connection as to how this is noteworthy or a big motivator to give a daughter up for adoption. Were you or the characteristically aggressive Argentine men losing self-control and making unsolicited advances on underage girls?

My second parenting tip is to have your future daughter wear a burka-suit to the pool to calm your nerves and as a preemptive strike against the potential fantasies of creepy older men. If your daughter is going to be a portena she will by normal socialization be apt at dressing non-sexually. Also be sure her closet is well stocked with what I call the burka-blouse. Already a staple of Argentine fashion, it is essentially a long loose fitting apron that shows little to no cleavage and drapes sufficiently over the jeans so that the buttocks is almost completely nonvisible.

Attractive portenas are clearly socialized to show less skin and dress less sexually than women in most other countries where a little cleavage is not misconstrued as an open invitation to be sexually harassed.

I for one would like to get back to Chairman Wood's pedophilic tendencies. Not to start a witch hunt, but I think it is safe to assume his guilt in this matter until he proves his innocence.

Despite making the effort to clarify my point, you make a second hasty objection with no support. If you "could not disagree more" then it should follow that you have plenty of evidence for a counterargument.

About the testicles where prefontal cortices should be part? Come on, man, by now you should know that is scientific fact!

I think we may have some confounding variables that are affecting your opinions (beyond a complete lack of appreciation for hyperbole). Note that my observations are more relevant to the attractive Portenas dressing sexually. Between a basically self admitted pedophile and self proclaimed nerd I don't imagine that either of you are pulling (m)any women that inspire much hissing and harassment.

Your choice of words here and above put you across as being quite sure of their habits. Myself, Loz Colbert and I'm sure most people do that live here disagree but hell, people's opinions how other's dress is quite subjective. I don't know why you would want to come across as you being so cut and dry correct on an question this subjective. After all, if it was so clear as you say it is, there wouldn't be disagreement.

If you want a real metric instead of you just blindly saying, "it is so cause I say it is so" just go to a beach such as Mar del Plata where lots of porteñas go. The area that the attractive girls cover with their swimsuits here compared to that of the rest of the world is less than any country that I've been to other than Brazil and France (France only cause often women go topless, but away from that, their swimsuits reveal less).

My conclusion about your behaviors was presented as conjecture. I am guessing from the creepy pool comments and loz claimed to look not far off from a picture of a nerd someone posted.

What is pretty clear is that in general attractive women don't often wear particularly sexy or skin revealing outfits on the street or bars and clubs of BsAs. Their social behavior is also very toned down sexually relative to women of other countries. It is to the point that they are conditioned to not make eye contact because it might stir the beast that is on his toes ready to attack. Portenas know that given how aggressively the men behave, showing a lot of skin will be perceived as giving a green light to be harassed. A small few can't get enough attention and dress that way anyway and they are usually far from the most attractive.

The only reason I brought it up is because you were implying that at the public pool you and/or others were ogling and/or accosting under aged girls who were forced to show some skin to get in the water. Poor argie girls, not even adults and already getting drooled on/put on a pedestal/turned passive.

At the beach...o realmente? Come on now, unless you were handing out surveys you woulndn't easily be able to distinguish between a portena and non-portena? It is very common for brazilian girls to wear thongs and to vacation in Argentina. It is not at all common for portenas to wear thongs. I never meant to derail this so much from the pool comments, but apparently you refuse to address them.

This will probably come off as a brag but whatever, Argentinian girls are the biggest starers I've come across. I hang out in bars in Australia or Europe and maybe a few girls will look at me for prolonged periods of time but not very many. I go out in Buenos and half the girls are taking their best look constantly throughout the night. This isn't just me, I had this convo with a few other guys and they're on the same page. Not just Argentina but South America in general. It doesn't happen in USA/Australia/Europe even close to that level.

In terms of showing off, girls are probably a little more modest (probably a lot more if your baseline is a college bar in the US) but I don't know if it really makes a huge difference, Argie guys see a female with two legs as a green light. I do agree you see a lot less 'holy crap what a slut' dressers but I think that's more because Argie girls have more style in general, like in Europe.

Also, its so easy to tell a portena from a Brazilian girl or somewhere else in South America and I'm pretty sure Chairman Wood could tell the difference pretty quick.

My 2 cents.

That's because you're 6'8 and 250 pounds.

I think this discussion is getting a little over-discussed, but in all seriousness, I think that for sure Argie girls can stare, or give you a look, and be super flirtatious..at times. But I think compared to most countries they are definitely more conservative, in terms of dress, eye contact, you name it. Sample size has a lot to do with it, and who knows maybe a guy runs hot there or whatever, I guess, and sure, most of us who look different from your rando argie guy will get more looks...but Arturius, didn't we have this conversation, about how they just don't dress as sexy as girls from other countries? Maybe it was someone else, I dunno, thought it was you. But...and I am the biggest sucker for Argie girls around...I definitely think that in terms of what I mentioned above, eye contact, dress, they are just more conservative than your average girl from another country. I'm not saying they're so impossibly difficult like they get the bad rap for, but I think what abcdegen mentioned before definitely holds true - that they are just a product of the guys. After being in Colombia for a month and having met girls from all over, like most of us, I think there is a remarked difference between the aggression factor (there's one we'll all understand) of your avg hot argie girl vs. your avg girl from another country. Of course you could never determine exactly how much of it is the guys' fault, but I think its a pretty big factor. For those of us who have dated argie girls and gone out with them and their girlfriends, it's absolutely unreal how many times they get approached/hit on in a night. And its also pretty amazing how they will show a guy absolutely zero attention and then leave the bar and tell their girlfriends how into the guy they were. I just think its a really interesting social dynamic, I think the girls feed off the attention they get (in a bad way) and in turn the guys think they are forced into being more aggressive. And, just my opinion, I definitely think they dress less sexier than girls from other countries, more self-conscious, more covered-up....I dunno. I think if we were all going to talk about this it should be in a different forum, because its a point that I guess is mute if everyone is going to disagree on it and its clouding this thread. Everyone has their different opinion, different experience, while in AR, and while they are still my favorite girls on the planet, I think they are sadly a product of that social dynamic, and foreign guys "suffer" as a result of it. It can be overcome but I think you definitely have to put in more of an effort to get the higher-end girls, because they have an auto-wall built up, and part of that includes dressing a bit less sexy (NOT saying I still don't find them sexy), and not being as willing to give you bedroom eyes/come up and talk to you as a girl from another country. Obviously all of us are going to get the "Where are you from", and we're all going to get looked at/stared at....but I still think they're just, in lack of a better term...also I've said it about 5 times in this post...a bit more conservative than your avg girl. I still love 'em, whatever, but that's my 2 cents as well.

And ArtX, what's yo problem w/ American college bars? They lloooooovvve the Aussie accent...haha. cheers boys

MEC, its called paragraphs, jesus

I think we did have this discussion, unfortunately placed after those atrocious games of beer pong, memory loss big time. They are definitely more conservative, I'd say more shy in general but I wouldn't say conditioned not to make eye contact. But yeah, all anacedotal.

And you're right, its a dumb thing to argue over, everyone's experience will vary. Also lol at your 'sucker for argie girls', yeah argie girls are your number one.... right after the other 160 countries of women . And American college bars are great, I love it when my shoes and lower jeans smell like puke and vomit, and you always seem to wake up in the morning with a backward cap and a fred durst goatie somehow.

Art, I strongly disagree that american college girls dress more provocatively. The amount of cleavage I see here is ridiculous. And as far as I can tell, there's no such thing as a pair of jeans that are not tight. I would agree that there are less girls who dress uberslutty here, but then America always has more at the extremes.

MEC, what's the story on moving to colombia?

And ABC, lol as to Portenas not loving loving loving attention in all forms at all hours. La cultura Portena is to put girls on a pedestal from the moment they are born.
