While there I've done mostly the classic touristy things and really enjoyed them. All are beautiful places although I wasn't too impressed with Tierra del Fuego ( I was only in Ushuia and the parts around it though). I didn't see it in your plans above but I wouldn't miss Torre del Paine in Chile. I have limited hiking experience (the alps and a few places in the western US) but it was my favorite place in the world to hike thus far. A few posts up some people also had some restaurant recommendations for Mendoza.
Thanks I had not looked at Torres del Paine but will definitely be checking that out after a little research. I just booked my ticket, will arrive on the 3rd of February and plan on staying a week or so in BA before beginning my trek--I will be down for any Super Bowl shenanigans that are going on.

I know you already have your plans made, but still:

Visiting the south is best either in late november/early december or in middle-late march/early april. Reasons mainly are: 1) weather is much more pleasant and suitable for outdoors experiences and 2) tourism dies down during those dates leading to cheaper everything, more availability in general and (for me most importantly) it allows you to see the real nature of the cities, with locals not being stressed out by the swarm of tourists and regionality comming more to the surface.

That said, I think you've planned a great trip anyways. Make sure not to miss out on both Parque Nacional Los Alerces and Villa La Angostura and surroundings.

Cheers!

Dan is cravin for a good steak, so we are going back to the in my opinion most solid steak house in Palermo..

Calden del Soho

If John or any of you guys wanna go somewhere else since we've been there already, just post where YOU'll be going and then people can decide which place they want to go to.

Hi,

Myself and another 2p2er moneynoob are trying to recruit for a poker house in BA. Just putting it out there to see if there is any interest from people browsing the thread or from some of you who are already living there that might fancy a change. The rough dates we are looking at are from mid February to mid June so pm me if you are interested. We are both low stakes grinders looking to improve and have a laugh at the same time. If we get 2 more people, we'll definitely be able to get a sweet place for cheap.

Cheers.

Hey, I'm in BA for the next week+ and have a couple of questions for any folks with knowledge thereof:

(1) I'm day-tripping to Colonia tomorrow (already have my Buquebus tix). Probably only have about ~4 hours there factoring in immigration on the way back - should I just stick to the old town, or would it still be worth it to rent a scooter/golf cart and cruise around a bit?

(2) Can anyone recommend an good expat-ish bar in/near Palermo for watching the NFL playoffs this weekend?

Can't answer your Colonia questions but I need to go there too soon....

As far as bars: The Alamo, and Casa bar. Both are in Recoleta though. The Alamo will be insanely crowded and smokey and you should get there pretty early. Not sure about casabar

def get a scooter and head over to the bullfighting ruins and through the hills.

immigration on the way back took me a grand total of 10 seconds.

I'd go to Casa bar which is Santa Fe and Montevideo if I remember right. Or maybe that's Alamo. Schmeh.

Was at the Alamo last Saturday for the Cowboys Eagles game. Wasn't very crowded but started filling up during the 3rd quarter around midnight.

So you would instantly give your daughter up for adoption because you don't want the chairman woods of the world to creepily fantasize about her at the public pool? How about not taking her to places where pedophiles might be hanging out?
