Fitting it in your carry on luggage is probably overkill, just keep it in your suitcase. If you have your receipt for the item, bring that too, just tell them you need it for work and are not intending to sell it and you'll be fine.

Do not, I repeat, do not mail it..

I can't send text messages anymore. I've used them in the past without problem but for perhaps the past month or so, no one gets them. I have credits and I can still make calls. I use Claro. Ideas?

Dr. Magic had a similar problem recently. Ask him what he did.

For some reason in the last 2 weeks my Chase Visa ATM card has not been working at Banelco ATMs. Anyone had similar problems or known anyone who has. FWIW, I have been able to withdraw from Link ATM's

Do you receive text messages OK?

Check you phones settings. In the settings for SMS there should be a setting called Service Center or Centro de Servicios if your phone is in spanish. Make sure it is set to "+543200000001" If this doesn't work let me know. My girlfriend runs a cell phone store in Belgrano and I'm sure she will know what to do.

I'd never take Buenos Aires above any of your other options. And i LOVE Buenos aires...

the closest thing I see to this is "Reply to same center" which is set to No.

I haven't fooled around with any of the settings since when they were working in the past...

Also fwiw, I can still check my balance which requires a message be sent... although it takes care of sending it automatically when I choose that option rather than doing it manually.

edit: yes I receive messages fine

I would do BA if a variety of factors make it worthwhile: 1) exposing the gf to a more cosmopolitan setting/exposing the gf to a fairly distinct latin culture, and 2) if already headed in the direction...for example to Iguazu Falls, Bariloche, or especially the beaches of Uruguay.

but yeah, in my mind BA is more an experience than a touristy city.

I suppose he's talking about Punta del este / Punta del diablo. From what i heard the latter is a must visit if you are in Uruguay.

Delete all texts (inbox, sent and drafts) and then turn off the phone and turn it back on. Both my friend and I are on Claro and had the same problem. That fixed it.

I'm wondering if you guys think its still a really good place to visit during the colder months, like May-July?

you'd need to wear a jacket sometimes but it's not like it ever gets really cold here

Excellent, it works now

I wonder if deleting the stuff was even necessary? I absolutely never turn my phone off and it had never even occurred to me to try it.

Is anyone at all having similar problems or heard of anyone who has? Has anyone with a Chase ATM card been able to use Banelco ATMS recently?

just a q to those who live here/ have lived here.. Considering living here with some buddies and doing a poker house.

whats night life like? are basically all nights a go if you want to go out and party?

Ive heard the girls are prunes alot of the time. Is this legit, or just BS rumor kind of talk?

what are costs like? whats a reasonable monthly amount for someone who intends to party a decent amount 2-4x/week (predrinking mostly i.e not running up huge bills at clubs), eat out mostly always, live in a good location close to the good clubs and what not.. living in prob a 3-4 bedroom place splitting rent /3 or /4. also how much is blow there?

additionally, to anyone whos been to both BsAs aswell as Rio, which did you enjoy more? which had better night life etc

thx

All your questions have basically been answered 100x in this same topic and the older one. I suggest you read through them. It will give an almost perfect idea (and a ton of different opinions) about BsAs
