When you order a "cafe americano" you are referring to the size of the cup , its a middle sized coffee

When you just want a coffee black (as in without milk) just say "cafe solo" and if they ask you "cortado" say no

Type of coffee is place dependant, some places have an expresso machine, some places have mcdonalds type coffee.

Lagrima=Milk with little coffee
Cortado=Coffee with a lil milk
Cafe con leche= Half milk/half coffee
Submarino= A glass of warm milk with a chocolate bar to put inside :P

I went to the The Coffee Store earlier today and asked for their darkest coffee, which I was told was the Ethiopian Harrar-- wasn't really very dark at all-- pretty brown.

Does anyone know of a bar/pub/whatever that is likely to show the WC(football/soccer) qualifier games coming up in September? I'm looking for a place to watch Denmark-Portugal(on the 5th) and Denmark-Albania(on the 9th). I realise that there's probably no chance to get to watch DK-Albania, but I thought that there might be a place where Portuguese immigrants hang out that would show the DK-Portugal game.

perhaps a dumb question, but the sh for ll and y thingie, does that also apply to words that end in y such as hoy, hay, soy, etc? I don't really know why it would not, yet at the same time it just sounds really weird and I can't actually recall ever hearing those words spoken here (possibly explained by me simply not understanding 90% of what is said to me).

No, it does not apply when y is the last letter of a word. Also, phonetically the sound might be a little closer to the english j but not harshly articulated (so kind of a combination of the j and sh sounds).

I just started a month ago at Muay Thai Argentina. Granted, I'm a newbie, but it seems pretty legit. It's a nice setup and the trainers seem to know what they're doing.

A word of advice:they don't speak English. While my Spanish is decent, I definitely don't know all the fighting terms. As such, my learning consists of a mix of half-understood Spanish and mimicking the instructor. I don't know if that would be a problem for anyone else.
It's not like you'll get the wrong technique though, cause I've been at a lot of different times and the largest class I've seen was like 7. It's not large groups. They have classes almost every hour throughout the afternoon evening. It's 100 pesos a month for 3 days a week or 120 for 5 days a week.

I also know someone who goes to a Muay Thai gym at Velazco 942, but I've never been there. They told me it's 20 pesos a month cheaper though (100 for 5 days a week).
I just happened to find my place first, so I'm sticking with it since I don't have any problems with it.

Dinner club this week? A steakhouse would be nice, since I haven't found a good one yet since I've been here (not long).

Question and observations:

1. Does anyone know where I could buy a Speedo type swimsuit? I've asked in a few sporting goods stores and none have them. I can't even recall seeing one hanging in any store. I joined a gym that has a pool and I would like one to swim laps.

2. I finally went to Pura Tierra on Loz Colbert's recommendation. Good place and thanks. I had the tasting menu. No real standout dishes in my opinion but I really enjoyed my meal, especially since I was being taken out to dinner. Had the wine tasting menu as well. Liked them all, even the port wine they had. I have tried probably 20 port wines in my life and have never liked even one until that one. I will go back sometime.

3. Even after living here for quite a while, I never knew that if you call a taxi to come pick you up that there is a 10 peso minimum fare. We had a taxi called to come pick us up after dinner and the fare only ended up being 7 pesos. So when he wanted to charge me 10, we got into an argument and I just ended up throwing the 7 pesos at him (all bills, no change, I'm not violent) I later found out from a friend that it is always like this and he wasn't trying to rip anyone off. I felt like a jackass for quite sometime. Just a heads up so you don't make the same mistake.

Depending on the size of your party I would advise that you make a reservation and go there a little earlier. I think they only accept reservations between 8-9. Even on weeknights, the place gets packed and wait times can be long.

Just show up there and you'll be able to pick out the table. If you're there right at nine I'll probably be by myself at a big table looking at a menu I do'nt understand. Hard to miss either way.

i'm curious, why'd you choose to stay there? you aren't exactly in Touristville, which isn't bad or anything, as you'll have a much more authentic experience than staying in Soho.
