I will offer it for a very low price. I am not advertising it on craigslist or anywhere else, basically I want someone I can trust (most poker players) to take care of my place and pay my bills. It is a one bedroom duplex loft in palermo hollywood. There are tons of good bars and restaurants around. It is near a lot of transportation options as well. I just finished remodeling it, so it is pretty nice.

amenities include:
TV with cable
DVD
Broadband (1 Mg i think )
WiFi
20" and 24" monitors (with external video card usb adapter so you can run both on an average laptop)
Printer/scanner
Remote Controlled Blackout curtain covering the large two-story window that overlooks the street
Queen size bed

I am asking $400US + bills (not to exceed $150US). This is about a third of what I would charge on craigslist. I might ask to meet you/get references.

I would require a deposit of $2000. And I would prefer all transactions done through poker transfers.

During the day, the curtain is up, providing a lot of light.

Stocked kitchen.

I'm in the process of booking an apartment. It's located on Paraguay and Ortiz in Palermo. Is that a decent neighbourhood? Basically, I just want to make sure it's not in the middle of some crime-ridden, crackwhore-infested area that I haven't read about.

There are public courts you can play in. This is the only place that comes to my mind right now http://www.buenosaires.gov.ar/areas/...3&menu_id=6225

They do exist in the city I live in - Copenhagen, Denmark - which is supposedly one of the safest "major" cities in the world, and if I didn't know the city I could easily find a great apartment in that part of town without the slightest suspision that the area was in fact crime-ridden and filled with crack whores.
This is stupid anyway, because I was merely making sure that the apartment I was about to book wasn't in an area that had some unknown downside to it and then I used some hyperbole.

Sorry if I offended you.

Hello all, I'm moving to Buenos Aires on June 3rd and was wondering if anyone has played or does regularly play golf in Buenos Aires. Also wondering about how much of a hassle it would be to ship my clubs down. Thanks.

No offense taken! You'll be in a fine neighbourhood, so no worries.
Within BA there're of course a few questionable areas regarding general safety, none of which are promoted by the real estate agents though.

I haven't played golf here yet but I am thinking about finding some clubs down here and playing a bit if its feasible. Let me know if you want to play when you get here.

Well if your ever in town again maybe you, oopsipooped and I can go sometime. I see a course that's just north of Palermo on google maps. Not sure the deal though but I will investigate. I imagine that clubs are slightly more expensive or of less quality for the money because Buenos Aires is slightly isolated. I just need a golf fix every now and then anyway. I think I read in the original thread that renting clubs and a pull cart was like 30-40 pesos. I could have been dreaming about reading that and I'm not 100%. After the masters this year I kinda got the idea that golf was really big in Argentina.

Also, any of you guys that are still there doing the dining club or did it fade?

Just read this whole thread--great info from everyone. Going to start in on the original thread soon. I am prob like 75% to come down for a month or two starting in July (I know it's winter but w/e I need to gtfo of dodge). Looks like you can find some pretty nice apartments--I've mostly been perusing Palermo and Recoleta apartments as those seemed too be the two areas recommended most.

Are there any essentials that you need for moving down that I won't be able to easily acquire there? I read to bring a router, will do that. The electric sockets are the same right?

The electrical sockets are not the same but adapters are available in every hardware store, it won't be a problem.

I have a 14MB Arnet ADSL connection and a 5MB Fibertel cable connection. Fiber optics is starting to become available but it is very expensive and I've heard it is difficult to get. The business quality lines (e.g. T1) are mostly only available in Centro.

Have any of you tried the pub crawl at this site??

http://www.pubcrawlba.com/pub/index.php?lang=en

If so, how was it? How many people were in your group? Male/female ratio? What night do you think might be best?

Thanks.

Not done it myself but know many that have, good mix of like-minded people if getting drunk is your thing. Little ****-heavy I believe tho.

Tuesday seem to be the best night as you finish up at Hype with free entry.

Inside Capital the best course is Palermo (http://www.aag.com.ar/clubinfo.asp?club=102).

Outside I'd recommend Buenos Aires Golf Club (http://www.aag.com.ar/clubinfo.asp?club=167 This is where the World Championship that the USA won with Tiger-Duval was played) and Nordelta (new course, heard great stuff about it. http://www.aag.com.ar/clubinfo.asp?club=188)
