Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3 Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3

Without any actual data to back it up, my gut tells me that exceptionally talented or genius artists types are more likely than an average joe to engage in socially taboo behavior or hold extremist beliefs. It seems brilliant artists of all variety seem way less constrained by society's rules, for better and worse.

People in positions of power know they can usually get away with all kinds of **** and are way more likely to be narcissists and sociopaths.

My point was Cruise is a legitimately evil

Tbh,they are about the same in the real world.

Excellent analogy.

Meaning you know nothing about either.

I don't know why people think Allen and what he did was so bad. Certainly not compared to Polanski. And given what's happened since doesn't that just make it even less of a big deal?

Wow, you'd think having your mother murdered in Auschwitz when you were a young boy and years later having your pregnant wife killed by The Manson Family, would make you a strong candidate for one of the all time biggest sob stories / feel bad stories, instead you all in here hating on the guy.

Geez, tough crowd.

And exactly how does that excuse raping a 13 year old girl?

Which is why I do a hard boycott on Polanski and a meh one on Allen. Allen is pretty effed up, but Polanski is a straight up child rapist.

Polanski did have a tough life and his actually being in the Krakow Ghetto makes seeing The Pianist kind of important. Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby are great. I just wouldn't see his movies in the theater and though I don't pirate movies, maybe he'd be the perfect exception.

He drugged and raped a 13 year old. It's terrible what happened to him, but that doesn't give him a pass.

I didn't say that it did, and actually I wasn't being completely serious, I was doing a bit of what I believe the Brits would call taking the pias.

No one is boycotting Michael Moore?
04-03-2017 , 10:15 PM
Hell no.
04-03-2017 , 10:26 PM
I boycott MM for being an idiot.
04-03-2017 , 10:36 PM
I'm boycotting Roger Moore.

Woody Allen is probably a child rapist as well. I looked into it pretty thoroughly when the accusations from Dylan (another step-daughter or real daughter, I forget) resurfaced a few years ago and put it at 60-70%. I read opinions from child protection law experts and psychologists as well as the denials. It's not just the Soon-Yi thing.

I still see his films and have seen Polanski recently too.

I want to know which of the accusations was made up.
I'm guessing either salinger being a pedo or ghandi sleeping naked with his nieces.

I'll let it simmer a few days and then reveal

Pretty sure it's the Dickens one.

Midnight in Paris was my pick in the other thread for favorite movie of 2011.

Just for the record, Soon-Yi wasn't his daughter, his step-daughter or any other relation. She was his girlfriend's adopted daughter, and both he and Soon-Yi have stated that they began their relationship when she was 21.

Seems legit dot jpg

What? I thought Soon-Yi was the biological child of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow.

It's not like he drugged and raped her when she was 13, but he was something like her father at some point in her life.

Again, he is accused of and probably did molest another daughter, Dylan. Here's an article from a woman who was raped as a child but later still worked with Polanski and likes Allen's movies:
