In any case, if there isnt a long dialogue less cityscape montage scene then i will likely be disappointed.
A reworked version of the song is there at some point in the movie... but it isnt the main prologue type that you are expecting.
Scarlett does an amazing job of bring the character to life... and fanboi IS NOT going to be disappointed.
Frankly, I loved the movie... its very nearly the same movie as the original anime, but delivered much more concisely without the typical Masamune Shirow need to explain ever little piece of minutia thru extremely dry dialogue.
The story is slightly different in many ways... for instance, I have been bothered by the fact that none of the trailers used the Majors name... Kusanagi. That one very important issue for me is very cleanly explained in one of the final scenes... and explained in a very touching and befitting manner.
The movie is extreme beautiful to look at and pays a strong rightful homage to the bladerunner influence.
Importantly, all of the Iconic Anime scenes are in the movie... and they look spectacular.
I am definitely going to see the movie again, but I can see how this film might have issues with wider audiences that might not know the original work... it can be a little dry, and the story is fairly complex for a "comic book" type film.
What is most striking to me was the strong disconnect between the Americanized superhero/comic book movie and this VERY Japanese type adult story. This is more of a grown up Science Fiction than a comic book movie.
This is a strong must see if you have any interest in Anime or Science Fiction.
