T2???

They going to have a Terminator in it?

If they do,I'll see it.

Ideally I would like a streaming service of old movies that's not quite as artsy-fartsy cinephile-ish as the new Criterion-TCM one seems like it's gonna be. But I see they have a free 2 week trial, so I'll give er a spin.

It's all my friends favorite show, but I feel it was their first binge and therefore they feel the same way I feel about LOST.

I bought the whole series but am only 1/3 through the second season.

Any thoughts appreciated.
Best TV show ever. Its a shame they never really got to finish it.

What is? You're literally comparing it to some of the best entertainment in history. Not really fair.
True. I should have said its good, pretty darn good even, but if his friends were telling him it's the greatest ever, it's not quite in that ratified stratum imo.

Nice. If the sequel comes close to the original it will be fantastic.

Deadwood is vastly overrated with horrible characters. Ian McShane is the only saving grace of the show.

Top 5 series of all time? No way.

I saw Hacksaw ridge last night. Amazing movie. Might be the most violent war movie I've ever seen. Simply amazing that a person without a weapon could be so heroic on the front lines of war

The Killing A group of men hatch a plan to steal from a racetrack. The plan is complicated by the shrewish wife of one of the plotters.

It is described as film noir and I guess it is, but it felt to me a little tarintinoish as well. The story was good but I didn't care too much for the voiceover. I did like the way it all turned out.

I watched this because I thought this was the only kubrick movie I hadn't seen. Apparently I have one more (lolita). It didn't feel very kubricky although there were a couple of shots that had his fingerprints on them.

All in all, enjoyable but not great.

You mean Pulp Fiction is heavily inspired by The Killing

Loved The Killing, not as much Lolita (which could of been Tropic of Cancer, had a then too old and legally concerned Henry Miller obliged... Sigh and a thousand times sigh...).

I've never understood why so many here don't think much of Lolita. I've always enjoyed it myself. James Mason is always great in everything he does, and just in general I like the film as well.

There's probably something I don't know about, which isn't unusual.

But, while watching it, Reservoir Dogs came to mind, not Pulp Fiction.

I've seen both films. Obviously the original is far superior but there are definitely problems with it. Here are mine:

1.) Literally everything between Lolita and Humbert is only implied. This really did affect the film. I understand they had to censor it a fair bit being the 60's. The book by Nabokov is said to be a lot more explicit.

2.) Lolita is portrayed to be at least 14 in the film (some people say she is 16). In the book she is just 12. This makes Humbert look like only a borderline pedophile. In other words: he doesn't look like such a bad man especially when compared to the book.

3.) The ending of the film shown at the beginning completely ruins it for me and is unnecessary imo.

Yes Lolita (1962) is a very highly rated movie, and it is quite good but imo what i said above are what a lot of people (including me) don't like about it.

Went and saw Moonlight tonight. It's basically a character study of a young boy growing up in a drug-infested, impoverished area of Miami. And it has so many aspects of it done right - acting is great, script is great, a lot of the shots are interesting and great. Yet, I didn't find it very engaging and I'm trying to figure out why. Maybe it was too slow-burning for me or perhaps it's because the main character was very taciturn and introverted so I couldn't get drawn in by his character. I don't really have anything negative to say about it but that I wasn't all that engaged by it.

It's got Elisha Cook Jr. in it, plus Sterling Hayden. Watch it again in a couple of years. It's a great movie.

I've had second thoughts about the video I posted. I originally wanted something short. I figured if it was too long, nobody would click on it. But I've changed my mind -- and this one comes in under 35 minutes. Much better quality.

If that is more than you can fade, this one sneaks in under 13 minutes. It also features Chinese, English and Japanese subtitles, depending on what language Toshi is singing at the moment, and more of the original lineup:

The Killing is great, it's like the perfect noir-heist movie. Either that or Asphalt Jungle which is also great and similar to The Killing in several ways.

I haven't seen it in forever. I should watch it again with one of my kids. Good thing about having kids.

Also, seems like trying any movie with Sterling Hayden might be worth it.

Tom Snyder used to have Sterling Hayden on his Tomorrow show, and it was always incredible.

This is an interview about working with Kubrick. Interesting part on Dr. Strangelove. It was 48 takes and he was having a lot of trouble.

They got it though. One of the best scenes ever in anything imo.
